Hi, I want to setup an Astropulse only GPU cruncher. I tried using Lunatics installer and leaving only the GPU AP app. However BOINC complains that there is no MB app and does not start working. Next thing I come up with is to install GPU AP app and some MB app for CPU and somehow prevent the CPU from crunching. This has the drawback that I'll be thrashing MB WU (timeout) which I know some people would feel strongly about... In any case BOINC requiring me to have a MB app leads me to believe that what I'm trying might not be legal. Is it? If it is, what would be the best way to do an AP only GPU cruncher? Thanks! |

get one of that apps, who match with your GPU: http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=369 http://lunatics.kwsn.net/index.php?module=Downloads;sa=dlview;id=370 and set up on fresh copy of boinc: http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_7.2.33_x86_64-pc-linux-gnu.sh and all works. i check, it work. no MB or another tasks receiving. in any way, in a /projects/setiathome*/ folder you have apps_info.xml file, where you can regulate, which tasks you receiving... |

I should have mentioned. The OS is a 64 bit Windows 7. GPU is ATI. |

I tried using Lunatics installer and leaving only the GPU AP app. However BOINC complains that there is no MB app and does not start working. That procedure should work. I very much doubt that 'BOINC' would 'complain' about no MB app. More likely, SETI informed you about the situation, in case you'd made a mistake. You'll have to put up with that. It's perfectly legal, and the probable reason it didn't do any work was that there was no AP work available. Nothing you can do about that. |

You could also set your preferences to receive AP only work. Seti@home preferences Easy and simple Boinc....Boinc....Boinc....Boinc.... |

The message was in red so I kind of assumed it was a fatal error. What did they say about assumption being the mother of all f**k ups... Anyway, I'll wait for a week and will get back to you if I get no work :) |
