I did tell her she wasn't coming home until they found out why she lost all that. I have to go home and get a new change of clothes, I only came thinking I was here just over night and here it's a week. :)) I wish there was someone there who could keep an eye on you and make sure you're looking after yourself properly... take care Grant :) |

I'm bringing my mother home on Friday, July 25th. She is making good progress with walking, and that will continue with Home Health visiting us, 5 days a week. She's basically healthy now, other than the weak legs, and yes that is a big thing, but she doesn't need to stay incarcerated in a hospital setting for that. The dementia symptoms in regards to short-term memory aren't really that bad when I steer her in the right direction with the right cues, and her own house, where she's been for 47 years, will immensely help with that. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I'm very excited, Julie. Anyone who has read this thread knows I was scared out of my mind in the beginning and I still have a lot of anxiety about the present and future, but things have progressed slowly and surely in the positive direction. I've even had people tell me they were surprised she pulled out of the pneumonia at her age, but she did. :~) The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

I hoped. :~) I write down basic things for her, like, "Everything is going to be ok", "Gordon will be here at 8 am", "I have your purse and wallet"... She likes to look at these notes. That's so good you do that Gordon. She trusts you with those basic things and from what I've heard from you, I think you're her bearer.(don't know the word in English, I meant 'steunpilaar', it's an expression in Dutch) rOZZ Music Pictures |

Such good news Gordon!! :) Really happy for you both :) It's been a long and traumatic road and she's done so well! I think that having you by her side made all the difference. She has a wonderful son :) |
