An interesting report & points raised that Westminster should sit up & take notice of... I've been wondering recently if this Scottish Independence business has come about due to the Scots tendency to be too insular in nature. Much I wonder could be said about the Welsh too. Northern Ireland, just getting on with business as usual and making every effort to make things happen for themselves within the framework of the UK...."Scotland/Wales take note". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29306231 Labour has 41 Scottish MP's. If they are denied a vote on English matters in the Commons, it will seriously weaken Labours position. That is why they are opposing it. The Lib Dems have 11 Scottish MP's, the Tories have 1, therefore Labour will be 29 MP's worse off if this goes through. Been reading up on this Catalonia independence business. Do you think No it's not a bad thing, just saddened that bored f**ts label people that disagrees with them, especially when this pops into mind... |

Been reading up on this Catalonia independence business. Do you think :) Like that. And as Özz Nûjen says: "Politics is too important to be placed in the hands of politicians." |

The referendum may be over, but the fallout is going to affect the Labour party come next year. Scottish Labour Leader stands down "She told the Daily Record: "Any leader whose general secretary can be removed by London without any consultation is in an untenable position. "That has to change. The Scottish Labour Party must be a more autonomous party which works in partnership with the UK party. Lord McConnell, who was first minister between 2001 until 2007, said the party must "rediscover our sense of purpose, our vision for Scotland". His words echoed those of his predecessor Henry McLeish, who told the BBC: "There's no entitlement to a vote now. Labour has got to realise that every vote has got to be fought for."" & it's not just Labour who have to take that on-board! |

The referendum may be over, but the fallout is going to affect the Labour party come next year. Can I ask, based on the report of the latest poll, "What Scottish Labour Party?" Labour facing complete annihilation in Scotland as poll reveals party could win as few as four seats |

Your second paragraph sums up the UK position exactly. We are and have always been a universal trading nation and will do equally well out of Europe. What was once a free common market has now become a republican monolithic state without any real democracy or accountability to it citizen's. Should we leave, do you think it likely that the Germans will not want to continue sell their Mercs, VW's etc to the UK? It might take us a while to re adjust but one thing is for sure, adjust we will. |

If anyone needs another reason to think Government spending for the regions needs to be urgently debated and corrected. Funding crisis leaves Newcastle facing ‘impossible cuts’ and social unrest Figures produced by Newcastle have shown that many northern communities have been hit particularly badly by government spending cuts compared with the south, because of the way funding is calculated. It must also be noted that Newcastle is only a few miles from the Scottish border, and that Scotland gets more funding per capita than England. |

He couldn't get them out, so decides to work from within. Sounds like he isn't popular in Gordon though, so maybe nothing to worry about. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

I wonder how many North of the Border are thinking, "Good job we didn't vote for independence, because of the fall in oil prices." At present prices, There will be no justification to extract the last few expensive barrels for fields that are near the end of life. There will be no search for new fields. And all those wind farms will be too expensive to run. |

I wonder how many North of the Border are thinking, "Good job we didn't vote for independence, because of the fall in oil prices." Winter, that was the big-big loop hole in the Vote for Independence economics argument, for they placed their eggs all in one basket, based on the earnings coming from oil.
