My old Gigabyte 4850 (tried and true) gave up on me and I replaced it temporarily with an NVidea GForce 9500 GT. I've since purchased a new card (Radeon R7 260X), finally found a (more or less) stable driver set for it and things are back. The issue I have is that every time I start the BOINC client I get errors about the temporary NVIDIA card: 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | Starting BOINC client version 7.2.28 for windows_x86_64 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | Libraries: libcurl/7.25.0 OpenSSL/1.0.1 zlib/1.2.6 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | OpenCL: AMD/ATI GPU 0: Bonaire (driver version 1311.2 (VM), device version OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1311.2), 2048MB, 2048MB available, 1331 GFLOPS peak) 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | OpenCL CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 950 @ 3.07GHz (OpenCL driver vendor: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., driver version 1311.2 (sse2), device version OpenCL 1.2 AMD-APP (1311.2)) 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | SETI@home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | SETI@home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | SETI@home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | SETI@home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | App version needs CAL but GPU doesn't support it 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | Milkyway@Home | Application uses missing ATI GPU 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | App version needs CAL but GPU doesn't support it 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | Collatz Conjecture | Application uses missing ATI GPU 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | App version needs CAL but GPU doesn't support it 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | Collatz Conjecture | Application uses missing ATI GPU 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | Einstein@Home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | | app version refers to missing GPU type NVIDIA 12/31/2013 5:10:16 PM | Einstein@Home | Application uses missing NVIDIA GPU I'm sure these aren't really hurting anything but I'd like to "make them go away" and return the work units if something is stuck. It will also be one less thing frustrating me (the 260X card and drivers are doing that well enough). I've uninstalled and reinstalled and even changed version of the BOINC client but it's still there. Before I go and cancel a lot of tasks and wipe everything I figured I'd ask if there was an easier way. Ideas? Thanks in advance! |

Just 'Reset the project' at each of your projects, that will get rid of all those old app_versions, complete and report any work first, (I don't know if all your projects have 'Resend lost tasks enabled') Claggy |

Thanks. I'll run through the tasks, submit and reset the projects in question. Where would I find the setting for 'Resend lost tasks'? |

You won't find a setting for resend lost tasks - that's an option on the projects' servers - their choice. If it is on, you can reset while you still have tasks and they will be resent. If you don't know about a project's settings, drain the cache first. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

Thanks again! I'll run through the tasks first and then reset. Now it's time to research whether I can use this new GPU with Seti or not... |

I'm probably not going to be as lucky. I've already done an ATIman, DDU and manual uninstall of the ATI/AMD drivers and reloaded the 13.12 and 13.11 beta drivers (separate attempts) with no luck (won't display anything after boot - basically hangs the machine). The only drivers that worked for me were the ASUS provided ones (13.10 based I think). I've uninstalled 7.2.28, upgraded to 7.2.33 and back again (and again). If you look at the computer record (5553389) It doesn't have a driver listed in the Coprocessor field: AMD Bonaire (2048MB) OpenCL: 1.02 So I'm not so sure the project really knows that I have a GPU at all... |

If you look at the computer record (5553389) It doesn't have a driver listed in the Coprocessor field: It's not that it doesn't show a driver, It doesn't show a CAL driver, But we don't use CAL, we use OpenCL instead, AMD was supposed to be deprecating CAL, perhaps you GPU is the first not to have CAL support, anyone else with a Bonaire? I did ask DA to put in the OpenCL APP driver version on the Computer Details pages, he did something different and put the OpenCL spec the GPU Hardware/Software conforms to, So can you run CLinfo from the Cmd Prompt and post the details from it please, (Not sure if it'll tell us anything particularly useful through) We might need to get Eric to change some of the GPU requirements to allow you to get work (If it's not an installation problem) Edit: Another Option is to use the Lunatics Installer, that will bypass some of the Server side GPU requirements. I'm probably not going to be as lucky. Which Beta 13.11 drivers?, there's been about 6 or 7 different versions so far, (and the latest Cat 13.11 Beta9.5 is later than Cat 13.12 in APP level i believe.) If you're still having no luck, I'd fill out AMD driver feedback form and report the problem. Claggy |

I've had experience with this before; 1/1/2014 11:43:13 AM | | App version needs CAL but GPU doesn't support it I think it was caused by the particular <plan_class> being associated with CAL. Since you don't have any ATI tasks, try altering your Lunatics app_info.xml file to a non-standard <plan_class> for the ATI App. Something like; <app> <name>setiathome_v7</name> </app> <file_info> <name>MB7_win_x86_SSE_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r1843.exe</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>libfftw3f-3.dll</name> <executable/> </file_info> <file_info> <name>mb_cmdline_win_x86_SSE_OpenCL_ATi_HD5.txt</name> </file_info> <file_info> <name>MultiBeam_Kernels_r1843.cl</name> </file_info> <app_version> <app_name>setiathome_v7</app_name> <version_num>701</version_num> <plan_class>opencl_ati5</plan_class> <avg_ncpus>0.04</avg_ncpus> <max_ncpus>0.2</max_ncpus> <coproc> <type>ATI</type> <count>1</count> </coproc> <file_ref> <file_name>MB7_win_x86_SSE_OpenCL_ATi_HD5_r1843.exe</file_name> <main_program/> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>libfftw3f-3.dll</file_name> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>mb_cmdline_win_x86_SSE_OpenCL_ATi_HD5.txt</file_name> <open_name>mb_cmdline.txt</open_name> </file_ref> <file_ref> <file_name>MultiBeam_Kernels_r1843.cl</file_name> </file_ref> </app_version> It might work for now. You might want to change it to something else later... |

I think it was caused by the particular <plan_class> being associated with CAL. Since you don't have any ATI tasks, try altering your Lunatics app_info.xml file to a non-standard <plan_class> for the ATI App. He's running Stock, and has never run anonymous platform on any of his present hosts, so your suggestion is a bit premature, hence my suggestion: Edit: Another Option is to use the Lunatics Installer, that will bypass some of the Server side GPU requirements. If you look at the computer record (5553389) It doesn't have a driver listed in the Coprocessor field: Actually that is exactly the message I received. No cal support. I assumed the driver failed to start so I restarted WIndows, no luck. Then did the amd driver reinstall and lunatics reinstall. I hazard a guess that the CAL missing message is the minimum requirement for a GPU project setup in BOINC. This tells me the drivers failed or are missing. BOINC sees the card but not the drivers. I tried the 13.11 Beta9.5 and the 13.12 with similar (no) success. I had read on many posts that the 13.11 Beta fixed a number of problems but in my case it didn't help.
Already did this although I may do it again with new information. I also filled out the form on ASUS's site as well. The other option I have is to try a fresh install of Windows 7 64 on a different drive and see what happens. Don't know when I'm going to have time for that though... |

Found another Bonaire (on a different project) that also doesn't report a CAL driver version, but crunches their OpenCL app O.K: I also run this project on this system. Computer 3553778 It seems to crunch fine but the interesting part is that I don't get any load on Gpu-Z (0.7.5) or Afterburner (3.0.0 Beta 18) or GPUTweak (2.4.7) while it's running. |

Somehow my Win7 just forgot it had drivers and was content to run without them. I'll give that a try this weekend (was thinking of doing a driver re-install already) and let you know if it helps any. I'll also have a look for Lunatics and see if I can get that going as well. |
