G'morning, ever'body.
Popping in for a light breakfast. 3 eggs scrambled with diced green onions, mushrooms, tomatos and ham, couple grilled sausages, and a tankard of strong coffee, please. Thanks much.

Have a luncheon meeting, so can't have my usual weekend breakfast.

That looks good. A bit heavy on the pepper (assuming that's what all the black bits on the eggs are*).

* Or should that be is?

Thanks, Mike, that will work. Usually I dice and grill the ham and veggies, them scramble the eggs into them. Maybe add a handful of grated cheddar or jack cheese....

@Rob - I do on occasion mix diced grilled SPAM into my scrambled eggs and quiches. I also enjoy grilled SPAM on an English-style muffin covered with maple or butter-pecan syrup.

Message 1466197 - Posted: 19 Jan 2014, 13:25:53 UTC - in response to Message 1464790.

Today's main course menu was:
Roast beef & Yorkshire pudding
Shepherd's pie
Turkey & Leak pie
Chicken a-la-king
Faggots
Vegetarian lasagne
Jacket spuds with a range of fillings
A couple of different salads
All served with your choice of
Chips, boiled spuds, mashed spuds, roast spuds
and five veg

Average price of a main course £2.50

Looking around the table it was a case of guess the "meat portion" for the mountains of veg!

What are Faggots?

Message 1466329 - Posted: 19 Jan 2014, 18:39:03 UTC

Oh my.

I went to my best friend's daughter's 21st birthday party last night. (It wasn't actually her birthday; that was Monday and she, her mom, and her best friend went to Vegas and apparently bought one drink in every casino in town. This was the party for everyone else.)

I had more to drink that I usually do, a something with lime juice and two Bahama Mamas.

Birthday girl had countless Vegas Bombs, Vegas Shooters, at least four Bahama Mamas (which she kept saying were lemonade, even though there's no lemon in it), and who knows what else. She was pretty well blitzed by the time the bartender cut her off. Good thing her mom drove. I told her to enjoy her hangover. She said "I'm not going to have a hangover because I'm not drunk." Uh huh. Right. Sure.

Generally, it was the ladies who got wasted and the guys who were not so bad. I overdid it more on the pizza than the booze. Here it is now, 12:30 PM and I still haven't had breakfast.

Doctor, what you need is my post-bottle-of-single-malt breakfast:

Loads of fresh raspberries, tayberries and loganberries and blackberries in fresh yoghurt (not Greek style, but the normal thin stuff)

(strawberries don't work as well as these more bitter fruits)

Update: birthday girl finally responded to my Facebook post "Enjoy your hangover!" by saying she didn't have one. She admitted she'd been drunk, but says she didn't have a hangover. I said either it's a medical miracle or she slept it off.

There is a chain of restaurants called Mimi's that serves a breakfast called Pain Perdue. It consists of three slices of French Toast with a mixture of cream cheese and orange marmalade and/or fruit spread between them, two eggs, and a large chicken-apple sausage link. Also comes with a large muffin, fruit juice, and coffee. Pretty good, even if you are not hung over.
