I like Blue, Blue Jays like this one from California are nice, this one evidently works for peanuts... When I lived in Pacific Grove, CA, I had an apartment with a balcony like that. Not only would the bluejays come to my balcony for peanuts, I could actually get them to take peanuts from my hand if I stood pretty still. I loved it!! Any "relationships" I've had with wild animals in my past made me feel blessed. ~Sue~ |

... has that to do with Raccoons? I did no such thing!!! I do not recall how it is the Bug Thread became separated from the Critter Cafe, but I am quite sure that I did not ban bug posts. |

... has that to do with Raccoons? David is the one who said, "I like that rule," and he was the person to whom I was responding. He's the one who created the bug thread. ~Sue~ |

... has that to do with Raccoons? I didn't create the bug thread to ban them from here, I did it because they were cropping up in all kinds of other threads and I wanted to consolidate them all in one place, where those who so choose could ignore them. Sometimes I wish I would ignore them, but I feel a sort of loyalty to my own thread. The Blue Jay Way :) I vaguely remember that song. It must have been on The White Album. There were a lot of odd songs on that album. ~Sue~ |

Sometimes I wish I would ignore them, but I feel a sort of loyalty to my own thread. I thought it was because people who didn't want to see certain bugs (i.e. spiders) wouldn't see them in this thread. ~Sue~ |

Found it! This is one of the bluejays that would eat peanuts on my balcony in Pacific Grove, California. They just couldn't figure out why that second peanut was so hard to get! ~Sue~ |

Found it! I feed peanuts to the bluejays, crows and ravens who visit my backyard. The bluejays tend to fly away with one peanut at a time. The average crow or raven will swallow a whole peanut (in the shell!!!) and then take one or two more in his/her beak before flying away. I suspect all three species of birds cache the nuts to eat them later. |
