Really sorry to hear that Vic. I am sure that they will do the kindest thing that can be done for the dog at all times. That is being done by Proxy since Thelma lives in Victorville and I'm 44.90 miles away in Yermo CA, so My Sister in law Kathy and My younger Niece Jamie's cat Annabelle is doing that. Inspired to post this by you telling us about the bond between Thelma and Annabelle, Vic :) Yes, so sweet, the dog has decided to be the cats guardian angel, I'm glad that cats with CH don't get worse and that when possible the kitty brain tries to rewire itself. I'm grateful that Grace is as normal as a Maine Coon cat can be, She likes to watch water flow and a few drops of water flicked at Her are ignored, She's quite the 15lb 6yr old cat, vacuuming around here isn't just for dust, it's also for the huge amounts of fur She drops, gobs of it upon gobs, She's the only cat I've ever had that has feet 2 fingers wide... I just found out some sad news, My Nephew Mike's Dog Thelma who I helped raise and take care of from when She was a pup, while My Nephew was driving a truck on the interstate(CA to NV and back), is dying of Cancer, Thelma is eating 3 to 4 times a day, Thelma's body is wasting away I'm told by My Niece Jamie since outside of when Thelma needs to go outside and to get up to eat She just sleeps, Jamies Siamese cat Annabell has been staying by Thelma's side and sleeping with Thelma, My Sister in law has been watching over Thelma since Thelma is nearly blind and deaf at about the age of 14-15yrs, of course the dog also has arthritis too, of which type I don't know, We are hoping Thelma will see 1 more Xmas or at least 1 more Thanksgiving, but that may not happen. I'm so sorry. ~Sue~ |

Inspired to post this by you telling us about the bond between Thelma and Annabelle, Vic :) Grace was all of 9lbs when I brought Her home to live with Me about 4 years ago, that plate is 10.5" in diameter, Grace doesn't have any real fat. Grace is 4' up above the countertop where Her food and water is kept at, She jumps up there. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Two of my cats like to get in exactly that position Vic. :) I can't watch one of them get up, or indeed down from there... it's a distinctly haphazard, and very badly thought out event. :) My flip lid bin swallows him regularly. :/ (Hi Angela :)) |

She has been on top of My aquarium by way of some bookshelves that are off to the right. She's standing on a 6' long aquarium light with 4 192w bulbs for freshwater plants, I need to move the aquarium back to the left wall and get 3 Mame Tank Savers to isolate the aquarium and stand from the floor, I say 3 as each is 20"x20" and each can support 550lbs, so no worries, I just have to find out how to get 3 of them, since I've only ever seen them on a website with links to Japan. When this pic was taken there were boxes in front of the aquarium, so She just jumped, She later didn't have any boxes so it was the bookshelf route, She's quite smart for a cat. LOL Cowboy! I see Fuzzy's guest was there for the early bird special! Our raccoons tend to wait until it is dark before they visit. If you feed them, they will come... |

I have a huge rat in my appartment! Does anyone know how a rat can get up there on the second floor? I was thinking myself it crawled out of the toilet. I have it locked up in 1 room now. Jeroen is trying to catch it as we speak, with the help of Kira of course. The pitbull will know what to do with the little animal:)) I like mice a lot but rats I'm really not that fond of.... rOZZ Music Pictures |

Hi Julie :) Well in London, it's been said that we are never more than ten feet away from a rat. :/ When you see them in a natural environment they're really quite interesting and don't freak me out at all - but inside my house would definitely be a very different matter. :) Plumbing pipes are an access point definitely, but I've seen some do a very good job of climbing vertical walls, and shimmying along external pipes and satellite dish cables, so if you've had any warm weather leading to open windows, it's not impossible that's how it got in. If there's been any construction work near you recently, or any works involving drains, that can disturb them. Buildings where the water supply has been cut off and pipes and toilets have not been sealed or blocked, also gives them easy access to the surface. None of which helps you catch it. Good luck! :) |

Thanx Anniet. My BF and Kira are not able to catch it. A colleague here advised me to call the fire dept. The rat is lock up in Yoko and Lisa's room, so the children stayed in my bed last night. But it's gonna gnaw everything to pieces too! I was also thinking it can't get any food in that room so maybe it will become aggressive as I heard rats can be... grmpf rOZZ Music Pictures |

Many years ago I had a mouse in my bedroom which I couldn't get out. I built a sort of sealed tunnel out of cardboard boxes leading from my bedroom to my front door (which fortunately wasn't very far away), taped into thick plastic sheeting. With me in the room, my sister taped the sheeting securely round the doorframe. Then with an open window offering a second escape route, I went crashing round the room. Okay it WAS a mouse, not a rat. Did it work? Sadly I frightened it so much it leapt onto my dressing table then straight into a large jug of water that was on it (I used to get very thirsty in africa) and drowned. :( I sometimes wish I'd given it mouth to mouth - but I didn't. Not sure that has helped you either. :/ |
