Are you planning on replacing that GTX460 that turns AP's into trash with 1? Cheers. |

Are you planning on replacing that GTX460 that turns AP's into trash with 1? Don't blame the innocent for the crimes of the guilty. It's not the GTX460 that's to blame for the number of errors that were created, it was the pair of GTX660s on the 950 machine. Things got trashed while testing 7.0.26, but I think I have corrected the issue. V7 MBs seem to be working correctly as of this morning and the APs will have to wait until some are d/l'ed. Are you planning on replacing that GTX460 that turns AP's into trash with 1? Sorry to disagree but your 460 is producing invalid results, at lest 4 yesterday and 5 today already. Just thought you would like to know. |

Are you planning on replacing that GTX460 that turns AP's into trash with 1? OK, lets attempt to fix it. Any reasonable suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

OK, lets attempt to fix it. Any reasonable suggestions will be greatly appreciated. From one of the invalids: Device 1: GeForce GTX 460 SE, 1024 MiB, regsPerBlock 32768 computeCap 2.1, multiProcs 6 pciBusID = 2, pciSlotID = 0 clockRate = 1440 MHz I'm not familiar with the 460 but this seems high. Does this mean you're overclocking? If so, try it at stock clock rate. How are the temps? Do you monitor / control? Time to clean out the dust? Are you planning on replacing that GTX460 that turns AP's into trash with 1? Instant invalids?! inconclusives rate is pretty high too, even some cases that should have gone thriough [same numbers in stderr, though the validator checks best pulses and that too]. So either slightly unreliable or something else is whacky. Give the card and system some TLC, never a bad idea. Instant invalids point at garbled result files. So make sure the harddrive isn't going and you don't have AV interfering with Boinc. See if that helps. A person who won't read has no advantage over one who can't read. (Mark Twain) |

OK, lets attempt to fix it. Any reasonable suggestions will be greatly appreciated. According to nVIDIA the clockrate should be 1300MHz. http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-460-se/specifications Cheers. |

clockRate = 1440 MHz According to the Wiki card comparison page, the shader clock speed of a reference GTX 460 SE is 1300 MHz. So this is definitely high, but not impossible. Do you have a maker's name/model number, Cliff? Instant invalids?! Agreed. There are also a lot of Invalid AstroPulse v6 tasks, so it's not just one bad application. Instant invalids point at garbled result files. I think that's the key point - and with a number of valid tasks getting through, I think it's more likely that they are garbled at source, rather than by a failing hard disk. That's going to be hard to test, but it's possible. One way would be to store up a number of 'tasks in progress' - Cliff has 200 already, so that's easy - and then disable networking so the upload files remain on the computer. Once a significant number of tasks have completed and are waiting to upload, copy the upload files to a clean folder, zip them up and send them to a volunteer involved in testing and development for analysis (William and I both come into that category - I probably have more time available than William). Then allow the files to upload normally (re-enable networking) and report - then we can see which ones fail to validate, and we can concentrate on them. |

I think he is running 2 tasks. It might help if he changed it to just one task at a time. |

OK, lets attempt to fix it. Any reasonable suggestions will be greatly appreciated. And I'd upgrade that Beta driver (331.40) to the WHQL 331.65 you have on the other computer, or possibly earlier WHQL versions. No point in running a Beta after WHQL is released. Maybe not a factor, but... Rather than quote them all, see the preceeding comments. Another Fred Support SETI@home when you search the Web with GoodSearch or shop online with GoodShop. |

Here's two reviews from guru3d, one's for a EVGA and the other is Gigabyte. Oooh, looks nice :) I've been very happy with my superclocked 780, which has eVGAs's ACX cooler, so can vouch for it. It's quiet and cool running. Having tested 780 in various ways, I can say their potential here isn't unlocked yet. Various technical barriers remain to upping x42's GK110 (780/780ti/TITAN) performance, over x41zc, but the numbers check out. Current implementations heavily depend on driver latencies for these class GPUs, and GK110 has tools to hide them. "Living by the wisdom of computer science doesn't sound so bad after all. Water blocks are starting to come out for the GTX780i http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/ek_full_cover_water_block_for_nvidia_geforce_gtx_780_ti.html There also seems to be a Titan Black Edition that will come on the market in the near future, completely unlocked http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/nvidia_geforce_gtx_titan_black_edition.html I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Yesterday, I posted about the news concerning the possible Titan Black Edition. Today, I see that the same may be true of the EVGA GTX780i. If it runs turns out to be true -- GAME ON!!! http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/evga_geforce_gtx_780_ti_kingpin_edition_graphics_card.html I don't buy computers, I build them!! |

Interesting that Vince would put his logo on it. That has a lot of implications for the power circuitry and board component quality that other AIB manufacturers might not be able to readily replicate.
