Hello I do not go out much.I am a homely person and love being around the house.I enjoy watching a good dvd with a glass of red wine.I would rather stay in than say go out for a meal.I would rather eat a chinese takaway. My perfect night would be a good sci fi dvd and a botle of red wine with a nice chicken curry.Relaxing on the sofa.I do like a meal out on special occasions.Birthdays and Xmas etc.I supose it is because a few years back I used to go for meals all the time and the novalty of it wore thin. Now I like a meal out as a treat.Since buying my cinema surround sound system I no longer goto the movies either much now.As it is easier and cheaper and more pleasant to rent a dvd.I also find this time of year, cold and grey days put me off going out much.I enjoy going in my garden and having a poke around though. So what is your idea of a perfect evening? In or out?Are you a stay at home type like me?Or do u have to go out each night?I used to go out every night when living with my parents but now I have my own place I stay in. Tell me about your ideal, perfect night. Thanks Rachel. ......In Space No One Can Hear You Scream...... |

I'm definitely the stay-at-home kinda guy, but a perfect night begins with a good day. The few times I do manage to make myself known around town is in order to get food or abate cabin-fever. It will always begin with a visit to the café, where the coffee is terrible and the ambiance is goth. Perhaps I will meet up with some friends. Depending upon the mood, we'll either play chess (The introverted thinker's game, which usually is a clear sign of depression) or backgammon (The extroverted swindler's game, which is usually a clear sign of bipolar depression). Once I've won/lost a few, and as the sun begins to set, my mind will turn towards food. Could it be the Sangüich de Milanesa? Or the All-American burger and fries? Perhaps it would be the Szechuan diced chicken with fried rice? Or a simple curry? Well, since it's a perfect evening, I'd order one of each, and top it off with two liters of Doc Brown's black cherry soda. Or I could cook and pick up a Löwenbräu. Yes, that would do nicely... Then it's onto the evening's entertainment. Maybe kick back and revisit Max Cohen's final fall into insanity in π. Or, I could let my eyes marvel while the brain battles the philosophical issues in Lola Rennt. But then again I'm a product of my generation, so Clerks would be a possibility. And since I don't get out much... well... I'm love-sick, so add Chasing Amy to the list. Nah! I'd probably end up watching Peter Bogdanovich's Saint Jack - After all, I do have beer and a full belly! Yes... That's about 85% of my perfect evening. The only thing missing would be if there was a Touching Evil marathon, followed up by a The Prisoner marathon. Now it's a 95% perfect evening - I'd still be without a girlfriend, but 95% of a good thing isn't bad at all. :-) |

I had one perfect weekend once seems like a hundred years ago... ahh but that is a story for another time. An ideal evening? It begins with an active day, maybe even a workout. After a shower and a change, and maybe a nap, it's out to a good meal, or just order in. I love Italian food. Yes the surround sound cinema and HD television can be helpful, but I haven't had the system until comparatively recently. The movie depends on the mood at that point. A nice big-budget action-adventure is often good, but I sometimes like "feel good" flicks that usually other people dislike (Joe vs the Volcano, The Princess Bride, As Good as it Gets, Twice Upon a Time, etc). There's also watching city lights or a fire while listening to oldies like George Winston, Jim Croce, James Taylor, Steely Dan, Dave Sanborn, Vangelis (soundtrack to Blade Runner especially), Dave Benoit, etc. |

Think not - saw your picture. Seriously.... A great evening, especially this time of year, is a fine meal that I would prepare (yes - I can do oriental) with a really fine wine to accompany the meal, to be shared with someone special... The scent and the crackle of logs burning in the fireplace, the Christmas Tree lite in its' seasonal splendor, with some soft quiet music in the background as we talk, cuddle and share......
|
