Happy Halloween!!!

I just wanted to share with you a photo of my mantle from this year, before I take it all down this weekend.
As you can see, I collect Halloween teapots.

And I have a black cat too, of course I can't be a witch, that would be a bit hard to do.

It was raining here in NY. My wife said we had about 30 kids come to the door. The thing is she gave out all most 5 bags of candy. These were the 30 count bags too. I bet those kids were very happy:) Im bummed though, I only have a dozen Reeses peanut butter cups.

Maybe some pumpkin tea would help?

Message 1436494 - Posted: 1 Nov 2013, 15:41:59 UTC

We had about a dozen visitors last night, which is high for us. We live on a steep hill and typically range 0 to 4. I was delighted, of course. I've always wanted to live in an area where the doorbell rings like crazy all night. When we moved from the city (Oakland) to the suburb where we live now, I was sure our Halloweens would be "spooktacular" and I was disappointed to discover how few kids we average on our particular street.

This year we gave out full sized Hershey chocolate bars (and toothbrushes - an homage to my departed dentist father) to try and drum up a little business. In previous years we've given out pretzel and cheese packs, along with the toothbrushes. I've heard there are "good candy house" maps out there now and I wanted to see if increasing the pay-out would get us more visitors this year and also next year. A pack of seven "tweens" visited last and after collecting their candy bars and toothbrushes, I saw them all sit down on our bottom steps and do something with their phones. I sure hope we got a 5 star candy rating from that crowd!!!

Happy Halloween everyone! Was going to post this yesterday, but it was a pretty busy night. My yard haunt seemed to be successful. Good weather too.

Well I hope you get as much as you so richly desire next year Angela...

Yes quite steep, but still far enough on the bottom, that even Couch Potato Kids can make it.
May I suggest some out door advertising?

I'm going to look for some battery powered light strings in the after-Halloween sales. Orange lights twisted around the handrails might be nice. We don't have an outside electrical outlet, nor do I want Eric climbing on our roof, so outside "advertising" will be somewhat limited.

Vic, Kids need to be advised. Elvira is/was for the over 18 crowd.
I was thinking more along the lines of a Raccoon advertising the big Candy Bars.

Just thinking, what is a Toothbrush without Toothpaste.

Do you let Eric do anything fun?

Yes she does. I have not seen the Eric Den. More dangerous than a wet roof.

Not if it involves a high risk of him getting a head injury.

At one time I did some things that would make you cringe Angela, but of course My older niece is much worse, she had and might still have a lead foot that I found very hard to keep up with, though a Mustang GT did help and She only has a BMW v6...
