A tiny wasp pollinating a small flower (don't ask me what the flower is, all I know is "It's pink") This particular plant was covered in these tiny wasps "doing their thing". I couldn't get any closer thanks to a barbed wire fence and a ditch, while other plants of the same type I could get closer to didn't have the wasps on them! This would creep the hell out of me for a few seconds, until I realized what it was. Then I'd be utterly fascinated. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5010397/Creepy-insect-terrorising-Australia-baffles-internet.html ~Sue~ |

Uhhh.....this is an earthworm???? Not like any I've ever seen. Gigantic earthworm captured by woman in Australia. 'Captured'? Did it put up a fight? LOL. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

That's one fine annelidHave to agree. Taken from a post languishing on the boinc boards. Assume no insect lovers have been by there. Dramatic plunge in insect numbers Insects are an integral part of life on Earth as both pollinators and prey for other wildlife and it was known that some species such as butterflies were declining. But the newly revealed scale of the losses to all insects has prompted warnings that the world is “on course for ecological Armageddonâ€, with profound impacts on human society. |
