"Domestic skunks" would have had their scent glands removed... but still I cannot imagine 50 of ANYTHING in one's home!!! While her home may not smell like skunk musk, at the very least it must smell like skunk poop!!!

I do, however, agree with the Crazy Skunk Lady on one point. Skunks are beautiful and terribly misunderstood animals. I am happy to have them frequent my backyard.

I also think Skunks are beautiful animals, since they resemble Black and White cats.

Yes, Purvis seems to still be living under our deck. Because we didn't manage to socialize raccoons into living under there this year, Purvis has pretty much appropriated this prime piece of real estate.

Orbetta and Henrietta are doing just fine. They are getting nice and big, especially Henrietta who had the good spidey sense (or probably just pure spidey dumb luck) to construct her web next to our porch light. She eats more often than Orbetta does, so she is somewhat larger.

Of course crossing Eric with your local spiders looks could get you this:

Your friendly neighborhood Spiderman(Red) or the not so friendly Venom(Black)...

I suspect they would have to be spayed/neutered, as well.

I've only had a skunk in my backyard once that I know of. Two of my dogs
got sprayed. Before I realized they'd been sprayed, they ran back into
the house and wiped their faces on everything!!!!

Sounds like you had quite the stinky furniture for a while Suzie...

Poor doggies, hopefully they learned not to bother a skunk, they might explode.

Angela, How are the 5 W's doing?

The 5 W's, presumably, have gone their separate ways. We never see all 5 together.

We know we still get occasional raccoon visitors because we put some food for Spawnie up high, so Purvis won't eat it all, and the food disappears before Spawnie can eat it all. It has to be a raccoon since skunks are not good climbers and opossums are too dumb to figure out what to climb up to get to the food. One time we did see a raccoon eating Spawnie's elevated food. Which W it was I'll never know.

I will try to snap a picture if I see any of the 5 W's in the next week or so, but it will be a long shot at best. I really did not have the time to socialize this year's litter, so they are pretty wild. I have been very busy with family and work obligations this year, and on top of that Eric and I have done a ridiculous amount of traveling for business and for pleasure. I was never really home consistently enough to train this litter of raccoons during that critical period when Pilar, their mama, was hungry enough to really, really, really want the extra calories at the same time that the 5 W's would have been young enough to be strongly influenced by my behavior modification magic.

If I even see a raccoon long enough to take a picture, the picture will have to be taken through a window, because none of my current raccoon visitors tolerate my presence outside! How sad is that?!!! Yes friends, I'm afraid that this year I have miserably failed in my execution of CRL duties.
