Back in the late sixties I had just been posted to a place called Camp Borden in the province of Ontario after having just served a term in West Germany. I was so used to the fact that western European countries had a make-since attitude about human waste functions: I forgot about the white Presbyterian laws that were in place in Upper Canada.
While driving up to Wasaga Beach with one my older brothers we stopped for pee break at the side of the road, I made it to the shoulder of the road while my brother was still going, looking for a place that could not be seen by the traffic. Later he started berating me for risking a fine from the police for breaking the decency laws then in place. Those laws may well still be on the books, and knowing the people that live there; I expect the only defence in court could be a plea of temporary insanity.
The kind of police they have there are still very persistent.

Things we wish Americans knew about us, from Huffington Post Canada.

I haven't finished reading it yet (only on #53), but some of them sound good. Somebody please send me a bag of ketchup potato chips.

Mister Chris, the very erudite man on all the historic subjects !
I realized it the first time when you spoke about Boadicée...
And our histories are also very intimate and interdependent since 1066.
Big hug Chris :)

Bonjour ami!

Hello friend!

The histories of the French and the English are indeed intertwined in many ways, since the Battle of Hastings. But of course it is a time honoured tradition for both countries to engage in verbal swordplay and verbosity :-) And yes Boadicea of the Iceni, one of a line of famous British Queens. Accolade sincère Thomas :)

Unfortunately Chris, we speak too often about the english history from this date of 1066 (in France) !
Some don't know that the past of England is very rich in particular that she counted 36 anglo-saxon "bretwaldas" (my recognition for the book I'm writing) in 589 years of history (477-1066) and that before these "bretwladas", there were the Celts and this famous queen Boadicée.
No, definitely not, England was not born in 1066 !
Well before ! :)
