Hi everyone!
Sorry to bother you all again!

About a week ago I enabled Astropulse in my Seti@home preferences, so I could receive Astropulse WUs in my Boinc client.
I have a Sony Vaio VPCZ1 at the moment, so unfortunately it means I can't update my Nvidia GPU to the latest version, as it's hybrid graphics so it has to be packaged and all that.
But I haven't been receiving any Astropulse WUs since I enabled it.
Does anyone know if Astropulse requires a GPU to run, or has Seti just not been giving out many Astropulse WUs at the moment?
I am aware that (I think) Astropulse WUs will only be assigned if Seti thinks your computer has the processing power to complete the WU within the time. I think my laptop has enough power! It has:
8GB DDR3 ram
Intel core i7
Clocks in at 2.8GHz
And I've given Seti@home 71.43% of my resources (I run primegrid and Test4theory as well, but I give Seti@home more power (100 resources, primegrid 10,and Test4theory 30, as I take it in priority).

Should that be enough? Or do you think I need to allocate more resources to Seti@Home and/or upgrade my whole CPU to be able to run Astropulse WUs?

Thanks!

Anthony :)

No, Astropulse does not require a GPU, it has a CPU application as well. See http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/apps.php for that.
It also hasn't run out of APs, see http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html for that.

However, it depends on if there was an AP in the feeder at the time your client requested work. If there wasn't at that time, you can't get APs. And I understand they're still very difficult to get.

Ah ok cool, thanks for letting me know :)
Also, just a quick question, Do you think my CPU is capable of handling APs? I'm pretty sure they're CPU intensive, but I don't quite know how intensive that is! (see above post for specs).

CPU-only app was the first in existence (before GPU apps).
See on bottom of this page that there is CPU AstroPulse v6 app:
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/apps.php

(Windows/x86 6.01)

Check is BOINC requesting CPU work from SETI (Advanced -> Event Log (SHIFT + CTRL + E))
http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Advanced_view#BOINC_Manager_Menus

There are many AstroPulse WUs now (Results ready to send 24,911), no problem to get one if you are set correctly.

Are you sure you selected:
AstroPulse v6: yes
