Gary, your post just confirms my statement that definitions are important.
OBW, I think Webster calling on the supernatural allows for much, probably including multiple Gods, after all that would be supernatural.

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_an_authoritative_dictionary wrote:
Which ones are considered authoritative? Oxford is a big one. American Heritage and Merriam-Webster are a couple more. I prefer American Heritage because the layout is easier to read.

It is also important to know what isn't authoritative.

Beware of Webster dictionaries. They are a take-off on the Merriam-Webster dictionaries.

In English, you always have to look at context anyway, as nearly every word has multiple shades of meaning. I think you got that the shade of meaning I was using was not Webster's or you wouldn't have asked.

I do think Webster is showing a bias of the editor, however!

This was my favorite comment from the article I posted, and it was from Richard Dawkins, from an excerpt from his book "The God Delusion"..

" In it he wrote: "We are all atheists about most of the gods that humanity has ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further."

I am rather tired right now,
But I am sure there is somebody that could start a thread about 'Famous believers'

And kids.....we outnumber you both in quantity and quality.

BetrEGGER, so you're saying it's better to be wrong if the majority wants it? There are at LEAST two things wrong with that statement. I won't bother to elaborate.

See! Billions and Billions and Billions of atheists! (At least that's the impression you atheists are trying to create in order to fool more and more low information voters.)

No wonder I usually just lurk in this forum and don't post. The hatred, vitriol and out-and-out bigotry here is appalling. You should both be ashamed of yourselves.

If you want to understand why, let's change it up a bit. Imagine that Steve started a thread called "Famous Jews", and I replied with nothing more than a link to the "Celeb Jews" site... I didn't even say that I was Jewish! And you replied with:

I am rather tired right now,
But I am sure there is somebody that could start a thread about 'Famous Christians'
And kids.....we outnumber you both in quantity and quality.

How do you feel about your words now?

It sucks to be a member of the last religious group that people think it's OK to be openly bigoted and hateful against, I can tell you.

I think I'll lurk elsewhere.

Edit: P.S. Both of those lists are missing Dr. Eric Korpela and probably others on the SETI@Home team. Are they not "quality" people too?

Apples and oranges.

BIG difference between Atheists and Jews. One believes, the other does not.

How would you feel if someone said something supporting Mr. Kevvy, and an overwhelming majority stated they disagree?

Sugar coat it however you like, you are still wrong. And your point is ridiculous, as Jews don't believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, which is why they were persecuted for hundreds of years and hounded out of "Christian" countries all over the world, and eventually into gas chambers.

[Edited to tone it down.]

It was a mistake visiting this forum, so I'll undo that now and won't see your reply.

Mr. Catguy, I had the same thought, but then I immediately wondered if it's worth the effort.

BetrEGGER, so you're saying it's better to be wrong if the majority wants it? There are at LEAST two things wrong with that statement. I won't bother to elaborate.

Mr. Squirrelguy, nobody in here cares about history. I've tried to go that route myself a few times. Turned out to be a waste of time every time.

Guy I stated
Being right is not a democratic thing

So how do you get the opposite out of it?
