Did 4014 make it home?

Yep, She's in Cheyenne Wyoming now.

Since there are several links there now, I decided to bring the link to this thread: French red faces over trains that are 'too wide'

This post was not required. The correct way in all cases when a post can fit in more than one thread, or board, is to cross reference it. And certainly not to rename it.

Yeah, definitely an oops.

In New York, otoh, the subway system was built with two different sets of platform widths and maximum degrees of curvature, and cars are not interoperable between them to this day.

In Chicago, the Chicago, North Shore & Milwaukee used the El tracks to get downtown and had to meet the dimensional restrictions. This made its cars rather narrow by the standards of the steam roads with which they competed for traffic to Milwaukee, so they made the Electroliner cars bulge out above floor level. The curved sides are visible in this image.

It's still up in the air whether Frisco 1630 will run this weekend at IRM.

Nice, the last one looks like Train porn... ;) Seriously I'm glad #1630 is almost ready, I hope She passes Her tests with flying colors.

I think the tests will be easier than mounting the front of the smokebox and the bell on it.

When I was out there Sunday, we moved the last of the stored equipment off Station 2 and the main, so there can be regular operations this weekend. Now we just need a steam engine to operate. Diesels are nice, but steam draws the public.

Still no word on whether 1630 will run this weekend.

I plan to just drive out there and try to be useful in whatever way I can find.

Word this morning is that they fixed 1630, put her together, and lit the fire. She passed the safety valve test, but they found a problem with the automatic brake. The independent works, so she can run around by herself, but she can't pull a train until they find and fix it.

I'm confident it will be fixed by Sunday, when I'm a trainman on the coach train.

Well finding myself in North Yorkshire with a few hours free what self respecting anorak would not just happen over to Ribblehead and the Viaduct.

And finally 23 minutes EARLY so I more or less missed it, just visable in the atrocious weather The Network Rail Network Measurement Train. An old High Speed Train,

Nice pics, Bernie.

While 1630 was getting her brakes fixed, the Signal Department was also busy. By the end of the day, they had fixed two or three different problems. Operations should be much smoother tomorrow.

And from the looks of it, just like one in the US built by the B&O, it's a well built bridge.
