Crew just called in to say they have 3 hours and 30 minutes left to work.

Dispatcher said roger that, he's trying to get a route through.

Complicating it all, the afternoon Amtrak rush is starting and there's Maintenance In The Way out there.

The original plan was for them to make a left turn right where they are, but I guess someone decided that won't work out. The plan they started with this morning was to make a left turn 20 miles farther west. I think that's what the trainmaster is still insisting on doing.

And the dispatcher says okay to bring 'em down.

Western Maryland Scenic to acquire and operate B&O 2-6-6-2.

This news article doesn't say it's a 2-6-6-2, but the one on Trains Newswire does. (But you have to subscribe to Trains Magazine to see it.)

4014 is currently in Rawlins, WY, almost on schedule.

They will stop in Medicine Bow and Laramie, then make the final push to Cheyenne tomorrow.

4014 is almost home. I finished reading the Trains collector edition of The Big Boys. What a machine.

Vic have you been able to find that edition?

Barstow CA is rather isolated, the next nearest city is Victorville CA and that's an extra 33 miles away from Barstow down the 15 freeway, or 45 miles from where I live at, so no, if I have enough money next month, I'll order it online, for the moment I can do nothing.

London Calling

Friends of 261 is sponsoring a trip to see several British tourist railways and whatnot. If I suddenly win the lottery, maybe I'll sign up. I could meet Chris, Sirius, etc.

Borie is where the Amtrak station for Cheyenne was, back when it ran through Wyoming. If they had run to downtown Cheyenne, there would have been a long backup move to get out again.

The editor of Trains and his minions have stopped to show us the 4014 going by again, but there is currently a stack train passing on the closest track.

Steam Through the Piney Woods

The Texas Railroad is located about an hour and a half drive North of our East Texas farm. In Lufkin, Texas, there is a nice railroad museum that focuses on the pulpwood industry, and then there is an extensive railroad museum on the Strand Avenue in Galveston.

Happy 20th birthday (+2 days) to the Channel Tunnel.

I did the chunnel in 2002. At that time it was from Waterloo staiton.
It was rather dull. You see the engine go into a tunnel then its black as hell. You cant see anything. We did see an oncoming train. But they fly past you so quick its a blurr.

My old pass port has a chunnel stamp on it though. By the way we went to Paris.

If it was a blurr, are ye sure that wasn't 'The Flash'? ;)
