Then there's this pie: Pecan pie, My Mother was very good at making pies and at one time from scratch too. But then Mom was from Texas as one of its original families...

We will not stand for inferior shaving foam pies, only REAL cream, or REAL custard will suffice.

Well we can't have anyone getting mad. How about some soup cookies instead?

Now, who wants some yummy beef noodle chocolate chocolate chip cookies? Or tomato oatmeal raisin?

Beef noodle chocolate chip doesn't appeal to me. Tonight I nuked a can of potato soup, then had the last piece of a banana cream pie I bought on Monday.

And I am a person who eats most anything made from tomaters....

Somehow that came up in a bar conversation once when talking about our favorite foods. And somebody asked me, 'Good God, do you eat ANYTHING that is not tomato based?'

Well, maybe when eating cookies.

One of the first rules of vending machine service - if you change the product and don't have new labels, take the old ones off so you don't confuse people...

Is this a pie or not?

Alton Brown's Elvis impersonator said it is. Its name notwithstanding, it sure looks like a pie.

I have some trepidation about trying it. I find that while chocolate with cheesecake is good, chocolate in cheesecake isn't so much.

I'm definitely not paying full price for it.

No it isn't strictly a pie, it's a cheesecake. A pie is an apple pie or a steak & kidney pie, or a lemon meringue pie. But in the States they call anything for dessert or afters a pie, whatever it is. Probably eaten on a platter instead of a plate, and a spoon instead of a dessert fork as well.

In a formal setting, it might be brought out on a platter, then distributed to small plates to serve. That is also the only time we would distinguish dessert forks from regular ones, but cheesecake is generally only eaten with a spoon when no fork is available. In a pinch, even picking it up will do, but only when alone or with close family and friends who know what a slob you really are.

Most cheesecake is made in a pie pan, with a graham-cracker bottom crust, so it's six of one, half-dozen of the other....

Pizza pie is what all the Italian kids I grew up with (and their parents) called it....
