No pie? Ya say? Is that peppermint? Julie can have my piece. (If Julie's not careful, she'll get fat from all these extra pieces of pie we're all giving her.) David Sitting on my butt while others boldly go, Waiting for a message from a small furry creature from Alpha Centauri. |

No pie? Ya say? Julie has children. Just keeping up with them maintains her slim, girlish figure..... Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

I am sorry to have to be the one to break this to you, but green peppermint is an abomination. Peppermint flavored offerings ("flavoured" for those of you who stubbornly insist on being British) should always be artificially dyed a bright and brilliant shade of pink! Behold!!! Pink peppermint pie, as god and nature intended! |

Monday will be pleased by my illuminating experience this evening. Driving home from Chicago, I decided my bladder would not make it all the way, so I stopped at the McDonald's. THE McDonald's. The one next door to their corporate headquarters in Oak Brook. This place is bigger than your average McD's. It has outdoor seating, two sets of automatic sliding doors, a lounge seating area with fireplace (not going), and an elevator (with a garbage cart in front of it) to the balcony (closed, but it was 9pm). Where the balcony isn't, there's an oval steel rack with about a dozen big TVs around it (all showing the same sporting event that wasn't the Cubs game), and another curved rack with TVs facing the balcony. The first disappointment was the men's room, which wasn't even as clean as in some other McD'ses I've been to recently. Then I went to the counter and ordered a McDouble, 2 strawberry pies (the price of 2 is less than 2x the price of 1), and a large unsweet tea. Here's the part Monday will like: they didn't have any strawberry pies. No, I don't want apple or cherry, skip the pies. (I like their cherry, but I was annoyed about the no strawberries.) Then they gave me a large cup (foam, not plastic, which usually annoys me) to go get my own tea. It was empty. If I'd been in the text-based computer game of Hitchhiker's, Marvin would have been impressed because I had no tea. The gay kid at the counter had to get me tea from the other tank. I'd heard this place was a gleaming showplace that served as the gold standard for all other McD'ses to strive to match. So much for that illusion. Looks better, but I still don't want it. Maybe I'll give mine to you to spare Julie the calories. I wouldn't want it either, as it looks more like some pink plaster of Paris project I'd done in the 2nd or 3rd grade where I'd left a hand print, if I knew where it was exactly still(Its packed away in a box some where I think), I'd take a photo of it, sorry Angela, but that pie reminds Me of it...
