Pizza, sounds good...

Sausage and bacon, from a local joint, NOT the Hutt, Jetz, Sleazers, or anyplace else you ever heard of. Most especially not from CPK.

We have a place like that, that would be Peggy Sue's 50'S Diner, they serve pizza, but I've never ordered from there, although I have eaten there. I used to go to Domino's Pizza, but not anymore, I just go to Pizza Hut or to Little Caesars, there is of course Round Table and Red Barron too, but I've never had theirs. Still I do like pizza, but I don't make a habit of eating pizza, as most are a bit of a drive, like 12.5 miles one way or a gallon of gas for a pizza, since where I live there is no delivery, since I live too far from any that would. Jetz and CPK I'm not familiar with of course.

The Hut, Jet's, Dominoe's, Sleazer's, and other such are what I call corporate pizza. They are to pizza what McDonald's is to hamburgers. (Also, I don't like Sleazer's and Dom's for the same reason I don't like Chick-Fil-A.) California Pizza Kitchen is its own special category, upscale yuppie corporate pizza that is a disgrace to the name pizza.

Fortunately, my local joint is 5 blocks away. I have to be really lazy to have it delivered.

Lori and I still favor Papa Murphys take and bake.
$12.00-$14.00, and the things weigh a ton. You take one of those babys outta the oven and you know you have a meal.

My dearly departed uncle George founded the Sammy's pizza joints here in Wisconsin.
His wife was from Italy, and imparted some wisdom into the secret sauce recipe.

I'll keep that in mind the next time I'm up there.

I tried someone's take and bake once. I wasn't impressed. Not much better than any other corporate pizza.

Another example of corporate za is Papa John. He claims better ingredients, better pizza. I say it sucks. Hut is my minimum standard (when nothing else is available) and John doesn't meet it.

Winning on a lovely sunny Monday morning.
Preparing to mow the east half of the back yard. Only got half-way through on Saturday, the bin got full, had to wait for trash pickup earlier this morning.

Ya know....
I'd have to check to see if they are still open. Dear George passed many years ago, and I don't know if the franchise still exists. There were only 3 or 4 of them. It was not a big or corporate franchise.
Uncle George in a big way also shaped much of my life musically.
Back in the day, there was a huge old juke box in the pizza joint.
There were remote speaker boxes with selector buttons at each table, so patrons could select what they wished to hear as they dined.
And every few weeks or so, the amusement company would come in and update the selection of 45's in the juke.

The upshot of this was, when they changed out the 45's, George got the take-outs. He took them home and gave them to his daughter, Lisa.
She was not too interested in music, so one day when we were visiting, he asked us, his nephews, if we would like to have them.
By then, he had amassed THOUSANDS of 45's.
Many of which I still have to this day.

EDIT...
One of my true favs was the Santo and Johnny classic Sleepwalk.

That song grabbed me by the throat and never let go. Of course, a lot of other folks liked it too, so by the time I got the cast off 45 from the Sammy's juke, it had been worn almost to a frazzle...LOL.

And, if you never heard it, Brian Setzer does some amazing things with the song too.........
OMG, this just gave me chills yet again.
There is not another soul on this planet that can do what Setzer does with a Gretsch.

Lucky you.

In other news, my day has changed from too much stuff to do, to nothing at all. So, quick lunch and take a nap. Winning!

Grrr - I should have been going off for a couple of days on a business trip.
Departing at about midday today was the plan on Friday...
10am - "Minor problem, can we delay a few hours"
Reshuffle things, new plan = taxi at 18:00, then onwards to hotel tonight for an early morning session tomorrow...
17:30 "Err, its a bigger problem, hope you haven't set off yet, but we'll have to put it off for a few days, we'll give you a call in the morning".
Phone in to cancel taxi, tickets, hotels etc.

But then what's to be kept inside - or outside?
