Train ride win.

That's always a win.

There's more to going around corners and curves too fast than just tipping. I read once of a passenger on an Amtrak train with bi-level cars who complained to the conductor that it was going too fast. The conductor was sitting downstairs and didn't notice any problem... until he went upstairs. Everyone and everything was getting thrown back and forth across the car. He immediately got on the radio and told the engineer to slow down.

I also love train rides. The only disadvantage is the poor internet connection...

The only train rides I've ever been on were at Disneyland in Anaheim CA...

Well as a UK resident I have done something that a US resident hasn't in their own country, I have ridden Amtrak from New York to Washington and New York to Boston. Great way to see the country especially the NY to Boston, goes right up the New England coast. Spectacular!!

That does tend to be a problem. In the US, Amtrak is trying, but constantly moving through tunnels, under bridges, between buildings, past power lines, and through the various wireless carriers' strong and weak areas tends to make the reliability less than desirable.

The only train rides I've ever been on were at Disneyland in Anaheim CA...

There's a lot more to trains than that, Vic. Besides Amtrak, there are also luxury excursions and even chartered cars you can ride. Take a look at High Iron Travel and start dreaming. That's all you'll be able to do, though, unless you win the Publisher's Clearing House. (Well, I have a friend who works for the company and sometimes he'll let me ride with him when he's deadheading a car somewhere. I don't get all the personal service, or even the food and drinks, but I still enjoy the ride.)

[edit]
If any of you ever do book a trip with High Iron, let me know. I don't think they'll pay me a commission, but they'll at least owe me a favor.

I went through the power strip bit a few years ago....
Had too many computers running through a number of them, and one night the smoke came out, short cicuits ensued, and most of the house went dark.
After that, I ran a 50a 240v subfeed box to handle the computers, with 6 15a 120v circuit breaker protected outlets to safely feed the computers.
The only thing I use power strips for now is low power thingys like wall worts, the monitor, modem, router, etc....

I have long, high capacity extension cords running across my basement so all my computers aren't on the same outlet. I do also have the computer that's on a UPS plugged directly into the UPS with a strip for the router, etc.

You would either laugh or cry if you saw how many daisy chained power strips some (not all) of the computer labs where I work have running through them, each powering a computer and monitor or two, plus the next strip in line and whatever it's supporting.

In at least one other lab I'm aware of, there are several circuits with their hot wires running through a chase so the computers aren't all on the same one... but I think (not sure) all the circuits share a single neutral wire. Sometimes I'm surprised the place hasn't burned down already.

Oh I know there is more than what Disneyland offers, but so far I've not been able to take the train to My relatives house, which is about 45 miles away, I have to drive there, local isn't any better here either, I'd love to move back to the City of My birth(Los Angeles), but that's impossible.

I haven't done that since I was a kid and didn't care about the scenery. These days, the train will go quite a bit of the way between New York and Washington at 135 MPH and will hit 150 for a few miles between NY and Boston. (I know, that's not really impressive by European and Japanese standards. California's working on 220.) The NY-DC part could do 150 if they could get funding to replace the overhead wires that power the trains.

Whilst I cant win, I think just avoiding electrocution is a win!!

I was having a tidy up and deciding that there were far too many 4 way power strips. I have recently come by three industrial strips that are much better, as luck would have it I unplugged the old ones first, as I went to pick up one of the 4 ways it crumbled to pieces in my hand, to say I was surprised is an understatement. It one of those moments when you freeze in place thinking "I did unplug this, didn't I???!

It didn't appear to be burnt and just old and brittle. The pick shows what was left!! I suspect it was a cheap one. I shall be testing my others.

Reminds me of a brand new three way plug that fell to bits after just simply removing something that was plugged into it. I honestly don't know how such crap (safety wise) can be sold.

And that live cable looks like it's just been soldered on.
