A friendlier man is hard to imagine. I was fortunate to meet him a number of times and even had dinner with him. He truly was California Gold! Rest in Peace Huell.

Never met him, but sure enjoyed the shows he did, Especially about places close to home, like the Big Fresno Fair and some of the neat places inKern County. One of the few regular shows on PBS that I watched.

Just retired in November? Maybe he knew his time was short.....

God rest ye, Huell Howser.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, I looked online and He may have been ill as illness was mentioned, just not what type, so He may have known, at least We have His legacy and oh what a legacy, 19 years on PBS TV and I doubt I've seen all of His shows, but whenever I could I'd watch. He'll be missed.

Each episode was available on DVD from his website. Article in the paper says all his shows and papers were donated to Chapman University to be made available for research, and for sale on the web.....

From what little I've read, Huell had some sort of disease for the last 2 or 3 years, whatever it was had to have serious consequences, serious enough that Huell got His affairs in order and started transferring everything or nearly everything He owned to Chapman University, considering He had no children or any direct line relatives nearby, I can empathize with Huell, a lot, except for whatever Huell had of course, as I too have no direct line relatives, just My Brothers grown children that are nearby. I'd wished I met Him, I liked His work and where He went, if He hadn't been laid low by whatever killed Him, I think Huell would have had more than a few other places to film, like the Calico Ghost Town for example...

It seems Huell died of Cancer of the Prostate, just as I thought, at least according to the HP.
