I think its right when Feminist criticize Lego for starting out as so inclusive to everyone, no matter what race or gender they were, to what it is now, marketed almost exclusively to boys. I mean, even from a corporate perspective this just seems stupid. Why would you willingly ignore 50% of your potential market?

And really, that line of Lego they did bring out marketed to girls was just insulting by playing into every gender stereotype in the book.

Was Lego originally marketed at boys, or was it that the majority of kits were bought for or by boys, or that toy store put Lego in boys section along with Meccano, toy trains and Scaletric, and therefore by common usage assumed not to be a girls toy?

And isn't this just the same as the idea that computer games are only for boys, of all ages ;-)

Another example of corporations shooting themselves in the foot. Market research clearly shows that girls play games about as much as boys, yet the marketing for almost every game is excessively focused on males only. One of the most idiotic examples of that would be Bioshock Infinite, which has one of the best female characters in gaming, yet the cover of the game clearly displays the guy. Yeah I know that technically you play him, but the game is very clearly about Elizabeth and shes I think not even visible on the front cover.

Ugh, the games industry is just awful when it comes to gender representation and gender equality :(
