Gots To Play the Get No New Tasks/Get New Tasks game, to have ULs upload and DLs download.

Played it about 1 and 1/2 hour ago and ULs smoked away and DLs came a down.

Gots some at 90KBps. Most coming down between 15KBps and 60KBps.

Where's My MEG DLs? hehehe

Going with No New Tasks or Get New Tasks does not seem dependent on whether Communication Deferred is at 00:00:00 or nn:nn:nn when hitting Update button.

It's a MO FOing, FO Sho.

Got it? I knew that you could.

It all depends on the download pipe's saturation at the time of your downloads. I know at times when it is only running about 60mbit or so and I get an AP, it still won't go more than about 400k/sec. There's some kind of throttling on the networking equipment on their end. I can go download java at 3.8MB/sec, so I know it's not me.

After watching the log file run for a while it accrued to me that anyone doing more then a dozen or two seti jobs a day is tying up a lot of bandwidth. My thought was that if there was a line in preferences to set the minimum number of job's to report then anyone doing a lot of jobs could bundle 5,10,or 100 jobs at a time and free up the scheduler to do it's job rather than micro manage each client, anyone have some thoughts?

There's already a BOINC 7.0.x setting for that, but it's in time rather than number of WUs. The control is the "... and up to an additional x.xx days" for the Network preferences. Hosts which have it set to 0.1 day will ask for work less than 10 times a day when things are running reasonably well, since delivered work will be minimum plus 0.1 day at least. The current BOINC default is 0.5 days, implying Dr. Anderson thinks projects will be able to keep hosts busy if they only ask for work twice a day. Some of the most productive hosts here probably need the 0.01 days setting which has been widely recommended, but I agree that users with hosts having more moderate appetites could help by setting something larger.
