	The UK is disbanding the BAOR as we speak as an outdated setup that is not needed any more in the 21st Century. I see no reason why US troops shouldn't be called back as well.

	Big Bird needs to get toasted. Flame broiled. Don't watch much PBS or listen to much NPR, do you? I watch some of the local PBS programming, and the musical specials during Pledge Drives. On NPR, it is mostly local classical programming, and The Thistle & Shamrock and a local jazz program on Sunday evenings. I enjoy these programs enough to have set up recurring monthly donations to both the local PBS (KVPT-18) and NPR (KVPR-89.3) stations. I also support a local independent, low-power radio station, KVLP-LP (101.5), which plays some stuff I can't find anywhere else on the dial, not even on satelite. If federal funding for PBS and NPR goes away, if the services they provide are of value to enough people, they will get their funding. They already get some funding from major corporations like Exxon/Mobil, and national non-profit foundations. ____________ Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired

	Donald, what they (PBS and NPR) will shift to will be funded 'infomercials' -- heck they could get millions of dollars for infomercials on Cialis and Viagra -- that would make entertaining and informative watching instead of those lousy news and drama shows.

	@James, that would also mean no more American Hospitals to serve as an interm stop for the insured troops. A lot of bases have already been closed. I used to live in an area with the hightest amount of Americans outside the US. Of course that was before the Wall came down. 	Since this thread started, I've had an over riding image of Mitt Romney standing over an oven with a roasted big bird on a platter.... ..I'm surprised that no images are available for that...... ....it'll be a cracker of an image if someone did! ____________

Your forgetting some people who are sick or i'll, this isn't a perfect world. To ask them did you make $700 this year? you got to be kidding. Look at the coal miners that got crap for pay and they can't cover the med's? I paid my SS all my life, but to deprive me of my rights? I think not.

You guys over the pond have the same problem that the UK has (had). Two main parties, both as bad as each other, and no alternative. I don't know who to vote for Tuesday.
