Why is BOINC doing this?

My Boinc Manager keeps bombing out with these two messages in the event log. What is going on? A corrupted file somewhere?

Steve you cracked it, it was indeed the CMOS battery. This is an old P4 machine that had been switched off for a couple of months. While on 24/7 these old batteries tend to work, when switched off for any length of time they deteriorate beyond the point of no return. Luckily I had a spare CR2032 and all seems fine now.

Well done, last thing I thought of at the time ( excuse the pun!).

Interestingly these batteries are really only used "when the power is off". If the machine is powered on for long periods you can apparently get up to 10 years out the battery as it never does any work! Only actually discharging when the power is actually unplugged.

That's why I loved the "Dallas" quartz chips on early computers. Off for months at a time, boot up into the correct time & settings.
