The new equation for estimating alien life across the universe [edit] Doesn't really fit into this thread but didn't want to start a new one... rOZZ Music Pictures |

The number of truly earth-like planets in the universe would be estimated by an equation of the form 3 raised to the 22nd power multiplied by a long chain of ratios as to the probability that stars exhibit all of perhaps a dozen or more parametric and physical requirements for intelligent life to form. These ratios will be determined by cataloging more and more planets as our search for exoplanets continues. There are the obvious requirements such as magnetic field, ozone layer, mass limits, temperate zone. water, land, age, life expectancy of the star etc. There are others that may be argued over such as a moon, tides and so forth. Perhaps there are 100 billion in the universe--one for each galaxy. Perhaps we will determine that there are many more. |

Julie, If this is true then why is this link in science? I must insist this thread be moved in the politics link. Must not conflict resolve by suggesting that someone should go sit on an ice pick... |

Julie, what about SETI@home Science. Voyager 1 exits solar system, let's hope aliens bring it back. Lynn |

If there were aliens close enough to bring back Voyager which is just now leaving our SOLAR system, we would have heard them by now. If they are there they are far, far away. 70,000 years to reach the nearest star. at the rate of travel of voyager. |

I just use it as a saying, tag line, etc. ____________________________________________________ Voyager 1 exits solar system, let's hope aliens bring it back. Julie, (smile) Please move this thread to politics for the same reason all my ID links are move to politics. This would be fair. Or move my ID links back to where they belong--here. Thank you. Must not conflict resolve by suggesting that someone should go sit on an ice pick... |
