There is NO SUCH THING as an "ATI" work unit. But, But, But, there must be! People keep asking for them by name. All those people couldn't be wrong, could they? (btw, I knew, but didn't feel like explaining when others can do a much better and more thorough job of it.) |

There is NO SUCH THING as an "ATI" work unit. AstroPulse and MultiBeam work can be processed by CPU and GPU. Currently there's a few new OpenCL apps.for AMD/ATI GPUs And MultiBeam can be computed by CPU stock/optimized just as on ATI & NVidia GPUs. |

After a couple of works of almost never getting and GPU work for Seti, I've finally re-attached to another project (as someone said above "starts with E, ends with N - figure it out) just so my GPUs don't sit idle. |

Work has been available & downloading for several months now, with the odd short break here & there. There just hasn't been much of it available over the last couple of days. Grant Darwin NT |

For the past 2-3 weeks I've been getting "no work available" for GPU consistently. One or two tasks will slip through for either computer occasionally, but not nearly enough to keep them busy. Grant, I'm not sure about "Work has been available & downloading for several months now, with the odd short break here & there. There just hasn't been much of it available over the last couple of days." unless by "days" you mean weeks. Even when I do get a GPU task, it usually takes 2-12 hours to download because I don't sit there and mash "retry" every 10 seconds. It's just not worth the headache to me right now. I see now Einstein has GPU tasks available and I don't have to deal with the frustration factor of Seti's queue problems. I'll put Einstein back on hold once (if) Seti gets it sorted out. |

Grant, I'm not sure about "Work has been available & downloading for several months now, with the odd short break here & there. There just hasn't been much of it available over the last couple of days." unless by "days" you mean weeks. By days, i mean days, as in since the 4th of this month. Prior to that there has been plenty of work available, other than when the system was down for the weekly outage. And even with the present shortage of work, i was still getting some with every 3rd-5th request. Now the shorty storm is over, and i've processed most of the ones i had in my cache, i'm probably getting work on every 4 in 5 requests. I've got my hosts file to use only the one download server, so i don't have the download issues of trying to download from the one that always times out. At the moment some downloads are at about 15kB/s. For the last few weeks most of the time they've been about 5kB/s. Grant Darwin NT |
