The present tapes have already had Astropulse Wu's split from them, and are complete,

It's also evident by the fact that downloads are much, much faster than when Astropulse units are being sent out. (:

Just because the Downloads are fast at the moment, doesn't mean the lack of Astropulse Wu's is totally responsible,
Having a large amount of Multibeam VLAR Wu's in the pipeline also makes downloads a lot faster (VLAR Wu's aren't sent to Nvidia GPUs, so they get less work, so less downloads occur),
While having a large amount of Multibeam VHAR Wu's also brings the download pipe to it's knee's, just like Astropulse,

True, but O.T.O.H. AstroPulse WUs can be computated (on GPU) at the same speed
as MB work is done. I assume AstroPulse work units are compressed as well, although they still are quite big compaired to an MB WU.
AP WUs are 8MByte while MB is ~360KByte, IIRC.

Maybe they should look for other signal-types, as well, just as MB work.
And/or enhance resolution?!

AP WUs are not compressed - I remember someone raising the idea of compression a while back and the answer was that compression/decompression would cause too much extra server load. And you can read the downloaded WU in any text editor - it's just plain text.

I know having lots of MB WUs that can be processed quickly (colloquially known as 'shorties', I believe) can also high download demand, but all I know from experience of my little corner of the Internet (you two in Europe may have a different experience) is that whenever AP WUs are being sent out, the demand on the server far outweighs any mere so-called 'shorty storm' - every single day I have to supervise my hosts to ensure WU downloads are not 'stuck'. It's very painful. The only thing more painful is when a 'shorty storm' happens at the same time that AP WUs are being generated. Doubly painful. ):
