Give us a caption:

I didn't know there were lobster smurfs…

Yeah! As soon as I had recognized "smurfs" as "Schlümpfe", I was rotflmao ;-)

Yes Blurf turned up. But I think there was a rule, if you couldn't post a pic withing 24 hrs you pass it on.
That said, we have been very forgiving, as Seti could be down, work, or other major issues.
Maybe we should look at Beets rules. Just to start.
(Posting as a player, not a Mod.)

When we want to see the Beets rules we'll have to go to the very first Beets thread I fear.

When we want to see the Beets rules we'll have to go to the very first Beets thread I fear.

They have been posted after the first thread a few times but they are wayyyyyy back.

edit~ I found these at Beets give a caption XIX from 2010.
Well here are the rules. Pretty much cut and paste job.

Thread Rules

Pictures, captions, wit and sarcasm only please-any non-caption related posts will be red-x'ed and requested to be hidden for continuity sake. Wit and sarcasm will only be permitted while we wait for a new picture.

The winner picks the next picture.

Wait for the first of 10 captions or 2 days before declaring a winner.
Please try to wait for a reasonable amount of time before picking (i.e. if you notice 10 captions in the first hour, there are probably more people wanting to post a caption).
1 day will be given for the winner to post a picture, then the second place gets to post.
1 more day will be given for the second place to post a picture, then the third place will get to post a picture. (We have never actually gotten to the third place actually posting a picture.)

Old NEW RULE: The last picture poster is responsible for PM'ing the winner to let them know it's their turn.

With the Count to 10000 thread less than 50 away from it's goal (having been extended once)what is the general consensus as to it's future.

I personally suggest either a pause or a return to 1.

Your thoughts.

Apparently we can't change titles of our own threads anymore so I'll red-x it to have Beets added.

Regarding changing Beet's rules---Beets started it--he should be the one to change them

I think if you reset it to 1, people are probably reposting the same pic and no way to verify that.
I think we should just play on and see where it leads. More of a challenge I would think.

I can agree with Uli. Sure 10,000 is a high number. But there is no shortage of pictures containing numbers higher than 10,000 and it could be interesting to see where it goes with that extra digit, instead of returning to "1" where eventually people will start seeing repeated pictures again.

I asked earlier in this thread and at that time the consensus was to restart at 1. Some suggestions were also offered about not having two lego or two train pictures follow each other. I offered perhaps have a theme of the picture. If so we could have more that one going at a time.

If I may suggest, allow this to percolate for about a week so all posters and lurkers get a chance to have input and we don't go with just the views of weekend posters.

As to repeats, after 10,000 pictures are you going to remember it anyway?

If we go on from here at some point we will run out of anything but part number type pictures. Natural things count only so high. Something to keep in the back of your mind.

Maybe it's a good idea to go till 20,000?

As we have all seen, the higher numbers are nearly all train pictures or part numbers. I would suggest two possibilities.

    1. We carry on as now until 20,000 and see where we are then.

    2. We revert to 1, but agree to no trains being used, or only every other post. Otherwise it gets too easy and boring. But I can see a lot of modding having to be done!

This is a popular game and of course it should continue, but it needs an extra element of difficulty in it to make it more challenging.
