It's been so long since my last post about Goodsearch at the $1100.00 level that the thread has auto locked.... But, I am proud to report that we have now reached the $1500.00 mark for donations raised for Seti just by websearching using Goodsearch. Please keep it in mind folks.... All those little clicks DO add up!! Use Goodsearch when you can. Meow meow meow!!! "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

what is goodsearch? got a link? For your benefit and that of any others who were not here when this was first started...... The Goodsearch search engine... You don't have to register to use it for Seti unless you wish to keep track of your totals. Just select 'I support University of California - SETI@home' to send a penny per search to the Seti project. If you do not register, just keep an eye on it once in a while to make sure your selection cookie has not expired. I am at $8.40...that's 840 searches that I would have made anyway using Alta Vista or Google. But making them with Goodsearch brings pennies from heaven...well, maybe not heaven. And...... Goodsearching! "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I'm solidly in 12th place in the earners bracket. I just bought another $55 gt 430 for my P4/PCI through GoodShop. Costs me no extra and makes maybe another $.50 for SETI. Add in searches and it's easy to give. Thanks for setting this up Mark!! Doug |

I did not actually set it up..... True - and Eric credited Blurf for the suggestion. 6,095 supporters as of now. There's a lot of potential in GoodShop for those who buy computers, components, software, and lots of other stuff. Participating vendors include Amazon, NewEgg, Buy.com, the Apple store, CompUSA/Tiger Direct, Best Buy, etc. See the list on the GoodShop webpage. Most have coupons so check them out when you go shopping. Each vendor has a page that describes what purchases qualify. Make sure you initiate the purchase from the GoodShop site or their toolbar. Amazon has a couple of special provisions. From their Vendor page: For sales initiated through the GoodShop.com website: 1.5% donation on most goods. Don't know if any other vendors make that distinction. From the GoodShop FAQ Please know that Amazon is unique in that their technology does not provide us the ability to display earnings within our user accounts. Amazon purchases will still earn donations for your cause, but will only be displayed in aggregate at the cause level. That explains what happened to a couple of my purchases. Newest update...... Folks, you have been forgetting to use Goodsearch, I think. It's been moving rather slowly these days. But, the kitties are happy to announce that we are just a few pennies shy of reaching......ta daa........ $1,700.00 for Seti using the simple clicks of Goodsearch. Let's all keep it in mind. It does work. Meow. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Another kitty update and shameless plug. Wish I could issue them more often. But,..... We have now reached $1,822.00 raised for Seti by using the Goodsearch search engine. Please don't forget to use it when searching the 'net. Those pennies DO add up, folks. Meow! "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Another kitty update and shameless plug. Indeed they do, particularly if you remember to use GoodShop too when you're buying something. My searching and shopping accounts for $18.83 or slightly more than 1% of the total. It could have been more but I forgot to use GoodShop a couple of weeks ago when making an Amazon.com purchase. Another kitty update and shameless plug. Good to hear, Joe. Not buying much here these days, but I'll try to remember to start with GoodShop if I do. Might need a few cables from Tiger soon, I'll have to check if they qualify. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I was unaware of this and I make tons of searching using google. Now I have moved to goodsearch (will still occasionally use google cos of its diverse options). Thanks for the information. Just out of curiosity, is the donation made through goodsearch listed or shown anywhere in Seti donations list? |

I am not aware of any place it is listed on the Seti sight. I just monitor it from my Goodsearch home page. If anybody else sees it shown on Seti, please advise. Meow. There was a comment a long time ago that the first lump of money had arrived, and that the next lot was expected "in a year's time". The trouble is I can't recall when that message was posted (and it wasn't in any of the usual threads, so looking back through them won't help). The question was raised about the amount we have actually raised for Seti using Goodsearch. In particular was brought up the following part of the Goodsearch terms..... "Fifty percent of the revenue generated from GoodSearch is shared with your cause." I have good news. I emailed Goodsearch asking for clarification on this issue and got the following response this afternoon. "Thanks for your email. The "amount raised" on the goodsearch site is the amount you will receive." Sooooo, the figures I have been using are indeed correct. Whatever Goodsearch takes off the top is before the amount shown on their site, and at the time of this writing, we have raised $1,834.95 for Seti using Goodsearch. Keep on Goodsearching. Meow! That is indeed good news. It would also be great if there was a section under the donations page where it shows the amount received from goodsearch, just as a confirmation. |

That is indeed good news. It would also be great if there was a section under the donations page where it shows the amount received from goodsearch, just as a confirmation. I'm sure if you read all of the fine print on the goodsearch site they may tel you how it functions. One way I have seen sites like this work is that they pay out once a month. Provided the minimum payout, such as $100.00, is reached. If the minimum payout is not reached funds carry over each month until the amount is reached. Another update. Just reached the $1,900.00 milestone for contributions to Seti generated by all of your searches on Goodsearch. Please do keep it in mind when making inquiries, and we shall continue to turn searches into pennies into dollars for Seti in the coming New Year.
