Yes, and occasionally web sites will see a lot of hot linked hits and dynamically disable it, something the OP won't know until later. Caches also can obscure this.

Of course copying a photo and putting it on a site where hot linking is enabled, well, that is a copyright violation.

I was kinda going to say the same thing...

If we can't hot-link, and can't copy online pics to a photo bin or similar, that pretty rules out everything that's not already on my hard drive.

This is where my confusion comes in.

I know how to post pictures, my question is how can 'ANY' pictures be kosher? Without hotlinking, we're limited to, well, nothing.


And for the record, not every image online is copyrighted. Open source logos fall under GPL unless otherwise stated, everything on my sig is 100% copyright free.
