The internet does not use phone numbers No, the Internet does not, but to be able to get on there, you may have to use a (flat-fee) phone number, if you're still on dial-up. What if this person tries to get, or sees that phone number in BOINC Manager->Tools->Options->Connections? I don't see anything there, since I'm on a LAN. But I'd assume that when you're on dial-up, that your dial-up connection sits there. So perhaps he meant that. (I'm no star at reading continuous punctuationless sentences, so perhaps I misread it. ;-)) |

The internet does not use phone numbers OK, I missed that. I have no idea what BOINC would show for the connection for a dialup connection. BOINC WIKI |

Hi Helpers, I've been running seti through Boinc for many years but recently seem to have lost the plot. I can't get Boinc to run properly, I've spent the last few weeks trying everything I can find all to no avail. I'm running windows 7 on a 64 bit machine. The Boinc manager comes up and says Communicating with Boinc client please wait but then nothing; if I cancel I can get the Boinc manager to tell me the boinc client unexpectedly exited three times within the last x minutes, but I can't connect to a client. I have uninstalled several times, I have been through the registry and deleted various entries to do with BOINC as suggested elsewhere but nothing seems to work. I'm now at the stage of asking for direct help please, one step at a time. Thanks, Neil. |

Please start at this BOINC FAQ (BOINC Manager cannot connect to a client) (skip point 4). |
