Here we go again, the third night in a row, and the last four out of five with a solar storm going on. Planetary K-index Now: Kp= 4 unsettled 24-hr max: Kp= 6 storm This is what Europe is getting right now. |

Cold and clear sky`s tonight, very little cloud but not seen any glows, Though I did see two meteors last night, one gave a good bright streak for a second. |

Yes, we have lights all over the sky, even with cloud. More pix in the morning. Good night. |

If you live in Britain and there are clear skies, you got lights in the heavens. |

Here we go again, looks good in Europe right now: G 2 Moderate Power systems: high-latitude power systems may experience voltage alarms, long-duration storms may cause transformer damage. Spacecraft operations: corrective actions to orientation may be required by ground control; possible changes in drag affect orbit predictions. Other systems: HF radio propagation can fade at higher latitudes, and aurora has been seen as low as New York and Idaho (typically 55° geomagnetic lat.)**. |

Wow! X-FLARE! Big sunspot AR1520 unleashed an X1.4-class solar flare on July 12th at 1653 UT. Because this sunspot is directly facing Earth, everything about the blast was geoeffective. For one thing, it hurled a coronal mass ejection (CME) directly toward our planet. According to a forecast track prepared by analysts at the Goddard Space Weather Lab, the CME will hit Earth on July 14th around 10:20 UT (+/- 7 hours) and could spark strong geomagnetic storms. Sky watchers should be alert for auroras this weekend. We are going to get it big on the weekend. http://spaceweather.com/images2012/12jul12/20120712_193500_anim.tim-den.gif |

This NASA footage shows some amazing aurora from space Amazing!!! -"Young" James "To my mathematical brain, the numbers alone make thinking about aliens perfectly rational. The real challenge is to work out what aliens might actually be like." -Steven Hawking |

If you have clear skies in Brittan right now you may be getting a great aurora show to go along with the Olympics. |
