What is your contribution to this project, Mr. Sattler? Your high credit, my friend? My sole contribution is that I have tried. And wished........... I happen to think that among God's creations might be other worlds that have not been told to us just yet. It is my belief that they exist, and are awaiting our possible contact. That is why I search......because I believe. As the saying goes........'We are not alone...' That is my true belief, and why I crunch so much Seti data. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." It's like this, people here on S@H are saying: Is there anybody out there? Are We alone? We may never know, but We keep on crunching, as who knows, We might discover something. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Are any of us becoming religious over time? Is it now time to believe in God as being the creator of the things (or the reason behing existing things) which makes up and constitutes all kinds of stuff which are known to exist in the known Universe? Is it all about numbers, or is there more than that to be added to the debate? Jesus Christ was crusified. He called on his father when hanging to die on the cross, but he never got an answer from above and was left hanging. And the whole event was even dramatized, or filmatized by means of a movie. It reminds me of the old Western Classic "Gunsmoke", starring John Wayne (or perhaps it rather was James Arness)? Still, 1950's black and white classic movie. No reason to believe it really happened some 100 years earlier back in time. But you never happen to know for sure unless you know all the facts. BTW: No similarities assumed. Just writing down my words and reading the thread afterwards. |

Yes, Jesus, the son of God, was crucified to forgive our sins. What man made of the event since then is debatable. JC Superstar... Is not the Seti@home client being supposed to "lock" on the best pulse which is being found in a specific task? So what is a pulse then? Don't you need some kind of electronic equipment like an oscilloscope in order to make, create or reproduce a possible intelligent signal from previously recorded and / or processed data? If some UFO's are thought to be crafts ("manned" or "unmanned", or perhaps I rather should say habited vs. unhabited), can you tell the difference between the "submarine telescope" giving supposedly acceess to time travel as well as long distance travel and the radio antennae which may be located on the same thought crafts (which may be quite small in their sizes, a couple of meters / yards across, but not necessarily having been thought of or assumed as having been created by humans)? Am I supposed to be a theoretical physicist? Can such people possibly explain certain things better than I am able to do it myself? Relax now and take the time watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEDOnlLngO0 . Perhaps some things gets better explained this way. |

Sorry about those words about you. It was not meant as harassment or the like. I guess you were able to get things better up and running than I ever did. Which makes me think about the following point: 150,000 possible users / clients (including some unreliable ones like myself) and 4 or 5 people managing possibly unreliable / non-working servers (including download and upload servers). Blame the upgrading process, perhaps? Better start off from scratch / nothing in your hands. If some servers are being upgraded, do you send the ones you previously used to the Smithsonian Institution? (Being nostalgic). Why are the pictures my mother may have in a photo album of her grandparents in black and white only? Is it because it is cheaper or simpler, or is it because black and white are not supposed to be colors at all? Possible numbers are known to be a product of nature. Why are not we a product or at least part of nature in the same way? Where are the start and ending points in all of this? Our imagination, perhaps? |

oTime to de-bunk Seti@home once again. Perhaps comments in the negative is more appropriate than the opposite fact when it comes to this project? New gaussian: power 4.44, fit 581082624.000, score 867979251.072 . In which context does this score belong? It does not even make it to the list of candidates, anyway. However, fit is above 1.42. Is it part of a communication number or maybe part of such a number? E.T.'s numbers, that is all supposed to be, Mark, not ours, damn it, if you don't know it already. Time to go to bed here. It's 13:00 AM. I probably beat user fj on the score, but what about the supposedly included power and fit? Does this part of the number tell the rest of the story? What is the date, time, WU, the rest of the stuff for the recording as well as the processing of this WU? It's not even the machine in I am currently using. In fact, I am not able to get one single sucking thing or piece from this weight monster I am currently using. Apparently bad luck or the angels became lost to me. Time to not believe, perhaps. Any number machine around here (or possibly better a competent scientist) able to catch up with me on these thoughts? Or is it me that is stupid once again? Craps! Should I find something else to say so you think I may be someone else around? English or American isn't even my native language. It's just so easy to misunderstand each other because of the inherent language barrier. What do we have in our possession (meaning the "relevant logs") that you possible may not be using. Just including this sentence in raw "as is" in here based on pure instinct. Let's see: bg_bin, bg_fft_ind, bg_chirp_rate, bg_fft_len, bg_sigma, bg_true_mean. Pull down, select and choose these columns which are included there and see what you are able to get back in return. Are you able to comprehend (understand) those specific numbers being listed in these particular columns? Can you derive anything more from these particular columns if relevant numbers are included? Explanation please! Should I wish for even more? Apparently stuff here not for the faint hearted. We are not able not find anything. Trust in the loyal users of Seti@home. |

Wop bop a loo bop a wop bam boom. Got more hardware runnin' in circles that a kitty chasing it's tail. We are gonna find that little green guy some day. And if not, it's still been worth the search. All 169 million creds worth. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

I will give up soon if the ws still very difficult to download Don't fret over it if you don't want to. Just let it run in the background and Seti shall prevail. I have 8 rigs here pounding away....that are all getting some degree of work to do. None are running dry for the moment. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Any way or another you please may be able to contribute to this project in another way that I am personally able to do? Piss off uploads. Piss up downloads. Not my words, trust me. Uploads are one thing, downloads are another thing. What anything (possibly a message) is hidden in between could be anything between heaven and hell. Just for the starter's section, that is. Eh, Mark, what about your logs? Any sneak preview (or just a quick glance) at your stuff from time to time, perhaps? Maybe you are still better off on this thing than me. Definitely, I was doing better before. Blame E.T. (heads and legs) for the lack of support. |

o? Time to de-bunk Seti@home once again, I meant to say. Unable to handle request (Message 1178806, if I should care about replying to myself). You can no longer edit this post. Posts can only be edited at most 60 minutes after they have been created. HOME PARTICIPATE ABOUT COMMUNITY ACCOUNT STATISTICS Where did this spook came from? Yes. I know that the fact that I am an idiot. Every sentence, word or letter (including punctuation mark (".")) that I write takes up one byte on this web-server, meaning one less byte of free space available for its hungry users and the the possible cost of upgrading / replacing in order to allocate for new, free space for people like me to put down this dumb stuff. E.T.'s numbers, isn't it? |

I got no secrets..... I have 8 rigs, which generate more work requests than somebody just running one powerhouse. And I am OCD.....which means I spend many sleepless hours hitting the retry button on downloads. So I get work when others are sleeping. That's about it. Like just now...... The Frozen 920 was sitting on about 30 downloads. And the servers seem to be working about the way I suggested they should. All or nothing. It took about 15 hits on the retry button, but then they all just screamed through. Which allowed another work request, which netted another batch of tasks, which then required another round of mouse clicking to download. Ya get the picture now? Boinc and it's ridiculous setup of backoffs and roundabouts simply screw any attempts at getting work automagically when the servers are daft. Too many stuck uploads? No work request. Even ONE download in retry status..... No work request. Wanna try again......not for 5 minutes you are not. If I get pissed enough, one day I shall recompile my own version. Let it suffice to say that the idiocy of backoffs would go away. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

OCD - in charge of things, or maybe I should interpret that as "overclocked"? Overclocking too soon means a possible burn-out of the hardware equipment. Is it really worth it when it comes to the hardware? Again, rather trust those people who are actually making the food you are eating and not those hubba-bubba people who are supposed to give you some advice in the computer store (or food store for that matter) that you are visiting. |
