Wondering if there is a way to stop Boinc from starting with windows. I would prefer to be able to turn it on when I want as opposed to having it turn it off. I have looked through the settings and havent come across anything in the way disabling auto start. Tips, pointers and suggestions welcome Thank you Mike |

Simply remove BOINC Manager from the Startup Group. Make sure to leave BOINC Tray in the startup group if you want BOINC to honor any "in use" preferences. If you installed BOINC as a service (protected mode), then you'll have to uninstall and re-install without protected mode first. Don't worry about losing any work you have when doing an uninstall, the uninstaller doesn't remove any existing work. |

In BOINC 6.10 and 6.12 it doesn't start from the Windows Startup group, but from the registry. You can disable BOINC from running through 6.10: BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Advanced->Options->Deselect "Run Manager at login?"->OK. 6.12: BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Tools->Display and Network Options->Deselect "Run Manager at login?"->OK. You must do this for each user account that BOINC starts up for. |

Sometimes disabling the autostart ("Run Manager at login?") from BOINC Manager Options do not work. In this case you can use: MsConfig (from "Run...", WinKey+R) Or Autoruns http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902 Â - ALF - "Find out what you don't do well ..... then don't do it!" :) Â |
