Wanted to try install Solaris 10 and than run Seti@home on it.
So I tried to direct download the iso file (3GB) from Solaris website but
after downloaded about 680MB, an error message appear and it can't finish the download.
Click the link again, but the download process re-start from 0 Byte so I just cancel the download.
Anyone can teach how can I download the iso file? (about 3GB)
Seem like Solaris website does not provide torrent download.
Note: I was using Fedora 15 to download the file.

Why don't you try Solaris Express? It is a preview of Solaris 11 and it is free (at least for now).

I tried to upgrade from Solaris Express to Solaris 11 but it says it cannot be done because Solaris Express is a live OS. OK, it was a live OS but I installed it on my hard disk as a Virtual Machine. So I installed VirtualBox on Solaris Express and tried to install Solaris 11 on it as a second tier Virtual Machine but it says the RAM is not sufficient. I gave to Solaris Express 1 GB of my 8 GB (my 32-bit Linux is pae). As a solution, i tried to attach Solaris Express to Test4Theory@home, which uses only 256 MB RAM on its BOINC_VM Virtual Machine, but T4T says it does not accept my 386-pc-solaris CPU. It is really an Opteron 1210 with 2 cores, but the BOINC client by Dotsch sees it only as a pentium_pro+mmx. So I gave up but it was fun.

Solaris11 refused to install on my Opteron 1210 saying that it does not support "long mode". So I installed Solaris10, but I did not like it and installed instead on my VirtualBox an Oracle VirtualMachine including Solaris11, which is a 64-bit OS. Not only does it run but it recognizes my CPU as i86 AMD64. I launched the BOINC client and the SETI@home app by Dotsch and I am curious to see its speed compared to the pentium_pro+mmx which would run before.

Two of my Computers are Intel I5 actually, but the Boinc report it as Amd64.
No problem at all to install Solaris 11 (with gnome GUI) onto the I5 machine.
