why is it everytime a recommended download shows up on my computer, I download it and it screws up everything.

What are you talking about??
What recommended download?
Never something "shows up on (just the) computer", anytime any message is shown by some program.
So which program shows that message?
What is the exact message?

Now I`m trying to install the new version and it won`t find the installer

"new version" of what??

(and "new version" is like "BIG animal"
What is bigger? BIG cat or small Tiger?
What is Newer? New York of Old computer?

Give the exact version number, exact filename of the installer, exact download link ... to make people understand you.
)

P.S.
And forgive my ignorance but what is "MSI"?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSI

(some mainboard of "Micro-Star International" was what I expected clicking on the thread link)

MSI as for "Micro-Star International Co. Ltd." or
MSI as for "MicroSoft Installer" or what...

In either case a clear description of the problem cause sometimes a more helpful help...

ok Thank God I had a backup of the program and was able to restore only the program itself.
My question is this...the Messages box says there is a new download to boinc......should I not download this? or should I leave it alone and let it comewith downloaded workunits?

I leave my computers on most of the time and I am so busy I rarely get time to fix any problems. Sorry about the spouting off.......I just hate to lose the flow.

I believe MSi means...Microsoft installer which is part of the boinc installation package.

there is a tab on my boinc version ( win7 64bit)..it is a slot for messages...and in that box it says there is a new version of BOINC (6.12.35 x64) available and to please download it.....I did and it screwed everything up on me..had to restore from a backup I had, so I`m still running the old version 6.12.33 x64

Where'd you get that idea?

BTW, I'm running Boinc 6.10.30 win7 64.
Getting no problems from it. I ignore those upgrade
messages.

I got the same thing from Boinc saying that a newer upgrade is available, I ignored It, I'm happy with 6.10.58 x64 that runs under Win7 Pro.

You continue to say just "the program".
And All "the program" (BOINC) versions are here:

My question is this...the Messages box says there is a new download to BOINC ...... should I not download this? or should I leave it alone and let it come with downloaded workunits?

You can safely stay on BOINC 6.10.58 or 6.12.33 if it works for you.
(6.12.34 have known install problems)
