I recall a wonderful meal at an Ethiopian Restraunt.

However it could not have been authentic.

They had food.

I usually try and eat a hot version of the Pal curry. This is 1 above the Vindaloo, which is one above the Madras, etc. The Pal is about as hot as it can get, with water running from eyeblls and sphincter and the lips firey and the top of the tongue a bit ...
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

A friend and former colleague once made the mistake of going out for a curry with me. I grew up a few miles from Southall, so my taste for curries is well developed.
He decided to try to keep pace with me, and announced this to everyone. The popadoms and pickles arrived, a better selection than usual and I worked my slowly round them. All was well for him until I hit the lime pickle, which others had studiously avoided as it looked very dangerous.
Now, how hot can a lime pickle be? For me, it was "quite a mild and very palatable" one, he was looking for the fire extinguisher!
He never made it to the main course, but was found lying in the street outside still gasping for air after the rest of us had finished.
He never joined us again on a curry crawl....

When visiting a new, unfamiliar, Indian restaurant the first thing I do is inspect the loos - if the toilet paper is kept in a fridge I know I'm in for a good night.

Bwahahahahaha :).

Sounds like something for the contest thread.

Are we considering someone who is fully curry trained, or just a mere novice?

LOL...you would have to specify that in the contest, I suppose.

OK I use to love curries and my local curry house won awards.

However since being told by my doctor I will probably be diabetic within a year if I don't watch my diet. I have become aware that most Indian and Chinese take away curries are full of almost everything that is bad for you (sugar, salt saturated fat etc...)What a drag :-(

The only benefit I have found from getting old is that prescription medicine (for those abroad, what a doctor prescribes)is FREE over 60!!

Still I am saving my calories, fats, sugar, salt etc for as binge soon!!

PS Healthy eating IS boring don't let anyone tell you otherwise :-0

Oh yes winning as well.

I'm very fortunate, so far no signs of the dreaded "D" word.
But I do look after my diet.
Eating sensible is a case of knowing what you can and can't eat, which can be boring, but if you know the restaurant then it can be very interesting, and far from boring.
