WOOHOO!!! Finally getting some WU's from S@H!!!!!

Been crunching on mostly S@H Beta for the last few days. I was beginning to think S@H was having problems getting WU's together so we could have something to munch on while we watch the giant TV outer-space, waiting for our computers to give us an answer.

I'm gonna repeat that because I think it is worth doing so :-)

I'm gonna repeat that because I think that it needs to be repeated about a million times.

(gripe) Why has S@H never started auctioning off the naming rights to any aliens/species they discover?

Kudos to Dr. A for the original developement of Seti@Home.
Even greater Kudos to Dr. A for having the ideas for BOINC and bringing it to our world.

Gripes - to Dr. A for not listening to users, [snipped - this is a family show]

P.S. Get well soon Dr. A. (I hope they find a cure for megalomania soon)

Gripes: They don't point the telescope at potential solar systems or stars where there are earth-like planets.

Kudos: We have such dedicated SETI volunteers, on both side of the network.

In line with this.

Gripe: They don't have control of the telescope since they are piggybacking on someone elses time.

Kudos: We get to look for signals in places they might not otherwise get looked at.

GRIPE: My blasted electric company just got another raise. This electric bill is getting out of hand. I am going to have to cut way back, and that means, goodby Seti@home. I am NOT HAPPY about this, as I love and support this project. But, I have to take action on this electric bill. NO, I am not mad at the project or anything like that. I just have to do something to lower this electric bill.

KUDO'S: I can still use that GOODSEARCH website to make some money for this project !! Sorry that I have to leave, but I will use the GOODSEARCH so that the project still get's credit and some much needed funding. I will finish up the workunits that I have before I leave. Nice meeting and working with all of you. If the electric bill ever comes down, I'll be back !

Gripe: Losing nice folks like Jeff (below) to factors beyond their control. We'll miss you, Jeff - yell when you can come back.

Kudos: To the Gurus that are helping all of us understand and cope with Connection issues, EstimateBad, DCF etc. - and of course, to the limited staff that's keeping a lot of balls in the air right now.

If there is no back off time, more Kudos to Blurf for the GoodSearch suggestion and to Eric for finding time to implement it.

Gripe: All the folks posting in the NEWS threads complaining about the current connection problems, the lack of news from the S@H staff, and the incompetence of said staff for allowing any outages and problems to even occur, much less not fixing them before we notice them [/sarcasm].

KUDOS: To the S@H Staff, who work so hard with not enough funds or manpower to do the job as well as they wish they could, and the knowledgeable volunteers (Richard, Joe, Claggy, Jason G, to name just a few) who help them figure it out, and then explain it to those of us willing to listen. Thanks much.
