Legalize recreational drugs and sell the stash they have confiscated. Then tax mary jane like they do cigarettes. And oh yes legalize consentual sex for money and tax it. You don't need to do any of that. Just tax your petrol (gas) at the rates here in the UK. ____________

Tax organized religion and organized crime. Close 70% of overseas bases, fire 50% of federal, state, local, gov't workers. Place a 25% tax on all goods from China.

Another scenario, which actually seems more likely to be materializing, is the eventual bankruptcy of nations (US, Greece, etc) and national unions (EU, etc), leading to the privitization of national services (police, military, schools, etc) through various mega-corporations, eventually leading to those corporations becoming the de facto governments and powers-that-be of the world. This has been a common theme in most Cyberpunk-style Science Fiction of past years, but aside from all the news articles we've all seen about the financial woes, bailouts and national economies being stressed to the breaking point lately, some recent news pieces that show things are moving in this direction include the fact that Apple now has more available cash on hand than the US Treasury ($76 Billion vs $74 Billion).

I like that idea Mark. Yet the Nations with good Stewardship, would cry foul and rightly so.

I like that idea Mark. Yet the Nations with good Stewardship, would cry foul and rightly so. Awww........ Like we as a nation have not been supporting them for decades...... It's all a paper game, after all. Sure, nobody likes the poker player that walks out on the game without paying his debt. But they all sure had fun hootin' and hollerin' while they wuz playin'. And after all, who's gonna make us pay? China? Don't think so. Les jus' deal 'nuther round boyz......shall we? ____________ ****** "Ask not, what your kitty can do for you. Ask what you can do for your kitty." As it is kitten, so shall it be done.

I believe Germany paid that back. Berlin could not have survived without the help.

I believe Germany paid that back. Berlin could not have survived without the help. If you are referring to war debts by countries that the USA helped out during and after WW II I read a long time ago that France was the only country that never paid off it's war debt. Maybe we could sell off half our carrier fleet, three to Russia and three to China and wait for them to duke it out and offer our services to whichever side offers the most money. ____________ Bob DeWoody

I believe Germany paid that back. Berlin could not have survived without the help. France is not the only one ____________ I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that ...

The article you linked to only mentioned that GB just recently paid off it's war debt. I didn't find any reference to other countries that didn't pay.

There are still World War I debts owed to and by Britain. Since a moratorium on all debts from that conflict was agreed at the height of the Great Depression, no repayments have been made to or received from other nations since 1934. But that is small fry compared to this debt ..... UK National Debt

[But that is small fry compared to this debt ..... If the link is followed and the dates of the times the UK went semi-bankrupt (1976 and 2009/2010) it was a Labour Government at the helm. Labour are arguing they are competent to run the UK economy and the only peace time near misses have happened on their watch. Gordon Brown, as Chancellor and later Prime Minister, has much to answer for, and should be classified as one of the UK's top three most INCOMPETENT and WASTEFUL Chancellors. ____________ It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

I believe Germany paid that back. Berlin could not have survived without the help. I did a quick calculation here Bob...... Debt + interest due (compounded) + late payment fees + accountancy fees =.... .....(unless debt settled by 31st December 2015) ...France automatically becomes the 51 State of the USA....How do you like that!

Tax organized religion and organized crime. Close 70% of overseas bases, fire 50% of federal, state, local, gov't workers. Place a 25% tax on all goods from China. From your own profile: ABD in Operations Research from University of Illinois. From WIkipedia about the University of Illinois: The University of Illinois is a system of public universities in Illinois ...(Emphasis added.) Your professors were state employees. Were you a graduate teaching assistant during that time? Most likely, you were a state employee, as well. I believe you've indicated several times that you have taught, including statistics courses Did any of these occur at a public institution?
