Hi, I just got myself a new rig (old one as 8+ years old) and while I now have a good GPU (nVidia GTX 580) I don't want to run work units on it. While I can suspend the GPU processing, the client keeps on downloading work units for the GPU. Is there a way to stop this? Thanks, Marcin --- |

Your Account->Seti@Home preferences->Edit them->Check "Use CPU"->Uncheck Use Nvidia GPU->Update preferences. At the next contact your BOINC has with the Seti servers, it'll automatically follow the new preferences and work download for the GPU is over. |

How can the setting "obviously not work" if it works for everyone else? After you changed the preference, did you use the Update command in your BOINC Manager? BOINC doesn't know about the change in preferences until it contacts the server. |

any other way to stop it short of getting a ATI video card? ???? According to You computer list, you only have ATI cards. What work you have downloaded is CPU only: SETI@home Enhanced v6.03 and Astropulse v505 v5.05. Would you have a hidden Nvidia CUDA card in any of those systems, you would get Seti@Home Enhanced 6.09 or 6.10 work, while the Astropulse v5.05 can only be run on a GPU through the anonymous platform file. You don't have any, as that would show in the work load. So unless you have a system with an Nvidia card on a different account than the one you post with, which is entirely possible, you will have to post its ID number and the messages you see. |
