In the log from one machine I see downloads going into back off between 00:00 UTC until about an hour ago. all of my home machine uploaded & reported work fine though. We are running on only 1 download server right now. So that may be the cause of things.

I´m able to download, upload and report.

Try ipconfig /flushdns in command line.

Try ipconfig /flushdns in command line.

Is that possible on Linux?

I'd be tempted to upgrade that host to Boinc 6.10.58

In searching the google. The equivalent syntax for:
Linux: nscd restart
MAC OS X: lookupd -flushcache or dscacheutil -flushcache

I'm not using nscd... the server is the internal DNS... I'll restart it and see what happens.

Message 1092652 - Posted: 2 Apr 2011, 15:12:43 UTC - in response to Message 1092639.

Restarting (and then cleaning cached DNS entries) did not help.

Still getting "503 - internal server error" in return, which tell me that there must be something wrong in the other end.

Window machines get "HTTP Error" (in the Messages tab in BOINC Manager) when trying to contact SETI.

It's look like one of the two DL server/service is offline (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html).

AFAIK, with BOINC V6.10.x or was it DEV-V6.12.x not needed to make a DNS flush/reboot, the client will find the (still) available DL server/service.
Yes or no?

My machine have probs to DL WUs (backlog).

Sutaru, dahls's host hasn't managed to contact the scheduler since 22 March, since it can't complete a scheduler contact it's a moot point wether only one or both download servers are active,
If it can't report it's completed Wu's, it also can't get any new Wu's.

Where it was mentioned here in this thread, that the machine have since 03/22 no scheduler contact?

Yes - I see it now also after looking to the hosts (BOINC V6.10.17)..

Maybe he should update to the latest recommended version (http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download_all.php).

I tried to upgrade but that seems not to work at all. After installing missing libraries, I get the following error when trying to start BOINC:

/boinc: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64

Glad I backed up the directory before upgrading. The old version is still starting.

However, when a server return "Internal server error" it tell me that there IS something wrong at the server... Right? ;)

I'm not sure if it applies here, but you could try the "<http_1_0> trick" (in cc_config.xml).

Is it just me or?

Unfortunately, it does seem to be just you. The server doesn't seem to be returning errors to other users.

Whatever the problem is, it doesn't appear to be DNS. Your computer has resolved setiboinc.ssl.berkeley.edu to 208.68.240.20: that's what DNS does, and it's got the correct answer.

Reporting 171 tasks, with a file size approaching half a megabyte, is a moderately big request, but well within limits. It looks as if the file was sent, with 63 seconds elapsed between the 100-continue and the 500-server error: I'm thinking either corruption to your sched_request_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file before it leaves your computer (you can check it by eye - see if it 'looks right'), or transmission errors - maybe <http_xfer_debug> logging would show something.

I think I have had the same problem on another machine about a year ago. I might just delete the BOINC directory, reinstall the same version (since the latest version does not work my machine) and reattach again.

I'm still confused. After removing the current BOINC directory and reinstalled BOINC it has been running for a few hours but still not able to get any data at all, hardly the jpg-files!

But when loocking at the computer status http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/results.php?hostid=5256434 it seems like have should have received several working tasks... but my machine is bored and no task files are to be found.

Have I missed something?

A complete debug output since I started it can be found at http://www.dahl-stamnes.net/dahls/Ymse/boinc.html.

The first group shows your glass is much more than half full. There's even a downloaded WU in there but it won't be an active task yet. The middle group shows that another 62 tasks have been assigned, and the last group shows what you need to get before BOINC will start the S@H application. It is unfortunate, but BOINC doesn't know that those files aren't actually needed to do the work.

The simplest way for you to get the system back into production would be to shut BOINC down and copy the needed files from one of your other Linux systems. When you start BOINC again it ought to recognize that all needed files are there and start processing. Possibly you might have to use a "Retry now" action on one or more to keep BOINC from waiting until a backoff expires.

Considering that there's only one struggling download server, the difficulties will continue to some extent, but at least the system has successfully communicated with the Scheduler. That's a big step.

Some time after I posted the last message, things began to happen... files was downloaded one by one and the CPU got things to work with :)

As I wrote before, the initial problem with errors and that the machine was not able to upload the results, have happened before. It turned out to be on the same machine. I still got the old data, in case some developers want to take a look to find out why things seem to go into a "limbo state".

Thanks for all feedback.
