Thanks! Downloading...
What do you think is this app better to run on a HD4870 than MB? MB is handled by CUDA cards way better, I'd happily leave that to them.

I think bettr to provide cnstant load on available hardware to max output.
MB and AP are different apps with different workloads. If there is no AP tasks to crunch - better to crunch MB instead of going idle - that's what I think.
(Reverse vs AP and MB is true too)

If both units are available for what is the structure of HD4 better? Does it maybe make any sense running 1 AP and 1 MB simultaneously?

For my own HD4870 I found to run 2 MB is useless and error-prone. While running 2 AP (especially if they have lot of blanking) is benefical.
So you could try to set smth like 0.55 in count for MB and 0.45 for AP (don;t forget to change app's cmd line too for AP then). This would allow to run MB + AP and 2 APs if any.

But (cause AP is scarse and long) all this stuff still under investigation/tuning - and everyone can take participation with his/her own host. There are enough params to tune now ;)

-hp - sets high priority class

Is this a higher priority than other BOINC processes only, or is it higher than normal system processes?

Also, is there any way to tell BOINC to re-read the app_info file, or do you have to restart the application?

TIA

You have to restart the Core Client, but you don't have to worry about the Manager. For XP/service installations, the quickest and easiest way is through the Service Control Panel (restart the BOINC service), but for Vista/Win7, you'll be running GPUs in User mode anyway, so it's probably easiest to do with a Manager shutdown/restart.

Thanks, that's what I thought. New app releases don't come around that often so it's not a big deal, but it must be a pain for you guys (developers/testers).

;-) Especially when we get the app_info wrong, and have to do it again. And again...

As written.
High priority class. Usual processes use normal priority class by definition of "normal" :)

Point taken. In my defense I have never been accused of being normal, so sometimes I have trouble with that concept. :-)

"OpenCL 1.1 AMD-APP-SDK-v2.4-rc1 (595.9)"
this Catalyst version known to create difficulties with AP (at least).
I would not recommend to upgrade to Cat 11.3 and would recommend to do downgrade to 11.2 if you experience increased inconclusives rate or processing slowdown.

Have a look at your preferences, and check you are requesting GPU work.

btw according to the server you have lots of MB but no AP (which this thread is about)

Check you app_info has a correct AP for ATI entry.
Check your preferences have both 'receive 505' and 'if not available accept other' ticked.

If that is correct it's more or less pure luck if or how many AP you get on a mixed MB AP setup.

If all fails wait another month or two, then we should have the new lunatics installer (with ATI apps) out and you can be fairly sure it's not a misinstallation of some sort.

Your opening <app_info> tag isn't at the beginning of your app_info, but in the middle, it needs to be at the beginning of the app_info to denote where the app_info starts.

so you're saying you had to completely detach your client from the Primegrid project, or else you couldn't get any S@H MB GPU tasks? what a PITA in comparison to only having to suspend Primegrid.
