This is just a question related to BOINC itself, rather than SETI@home. Is it possible to run more than two (2) applications at a time, or not? Because, however many applications I have active, I can only seem to run two (2) at a time... Thanks, Alex Waters. Because, however many applications I have active, I can only seem to run two (2) at a time... That's because your GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T5900 @ 2.20GHz computer only has two (2) processors. :-) Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. Thanks for that :D I'm not the best with computers, so I'll ask if there is a way to increase the number of processes? Thanks again :) "The most incomprehensible thing about the world is that it is comprehensible." --Albert Einstein. |

You could force BOINC to run more than one process on each processor (core), but that wouldn't increase productivity; on the contrary, two tasks on one core would take more than double the time to finish. The exception to that would be "hyperthreading", a feature of some (Intel?) processors, but I can't give you more information on that (I don't even know if your computer is hyperthreading or not:-). So, the only meaningful way to increase the number of processes would be adding hardware to your computer, a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) for instance. Gruß, Gundolf |

Only some later Pentium 4s (needs 800MHz Front Side Bus), Xeons, and more recently the Atoms, the i3, i5 and i7 have hyper-threading capability. All versions in between don't. |
