By backing up your BOINC Data directory, or making a compressed copy of it.

First of all, exit BOINC: BOINC Manager->File->Exit->Check "Stop running science applications when exiting Manager"->OK.

Next navigate to your BOINC Data directory. Default paths are in this FAQ, but if you can't find it there (also not when unhidden), then you installed it someplace else. You can check for the path by temporarily starting up BOINC again and checking the Messages. The path to the Data directory will be in the messages. Do exit BOINC again before continuing.

When you've found the Data directory, go up one path on the tree. E.g. from C:\Programdata\BOINC\ to C:\Programdata\ and select the BOINC directory. Next either copy it to another drive, another partition, a USB stick/writable CD or whatever. Or drag and drop it into your compression program of choice and follow its instructions further.

To put it back on the new installation, or refurbished computer, make sure you copy or decompress the Data directory first into a directory of choice. When you then install BOINC, click on the Advanced button in the third screen in the installer (see here for a picture) to get to the screen where you can change the paths & BOINC's behaviour.

Click on the Change button for the BOINC Data directory (See picture) and navigate with it to where you placed your Data directory. Then continue the installation as normal.
