Message 1055048 - Posted: 11 Dec 2010, 16:39:22 UTC

Great work guys, I've got plenty of work units and am plugging away. What I've noticed though is (doing 5 units at a time) Seti is working on units with the date 22/01/11 etc. while it should be working on the 21/12/10 units.....any advice or is this an internal problem????
Thanks in advance

Chuck, this is really a question for Number Crunching. BOINC works on a first in, first out basis, unless it is in EDF (panic) mode. S@H seems to set the due date on the size of the unit, as well as the time sent. Your 22/01/11 units must have arrived at your computer before the 21/12/10 ones. These December 2010 units probably have a shorter estimated run time, hence the earlier due date even if sent later.

It is interesting, to say the least, that my BOINC client, 6.10.58 keeps asking the servers for work, and the consistent reply is no work available at a time when the server status page shows over 240,000 Seti Enhanced WUs ready to download.

Also curious that while i struggle to get a WU to work on, two WU's that I did manage to get and turn in over the last few days are stuck waiting on two different BOINC clients that have backlogs of well over 60 WU's to process.

so back online, at least to me, seems to be a myth.

Check that "at a time". The Server Status Page is currently saying that there were over 240,000 WUs available as of 11 Dec 2010 6:30:08 UTC - approaching 36 hours ago.

so back online, at least to me, seems to be a myth.

It was true when it was written, but there has subsequently been a failure - after the staff left the lab on Friday evening. No intention to deceive, but sadly Murphy's Law has overtaken us once again.

The Server status was As of 11 Dec 2010 6:30:08 UTC, approx 35 hours ago, downloads only dried up 31 hours ago, more than enough time to drain what was there,

Sad to say, I FAILED to notice that the date/time stamp was OLD when I looked at server status. Sighh

I ramped up BAM! to now collect up to 5 days of work when the team gets things working again

Just in time. I need the extra CPU heat to help the furnace keep up with the cold weather.

The extra heat is a plus that's for sure !
And I'm really glad SETI is up and running again.
Hope everyone returns...

Some of us are more geeky than others. We should be glad we're getting his help and not persecute him for not spending the time we do.
It doesn't hurt to add a link to help the less geeky of us.

No, it doesn't hurt to place a link, but when he had read de tread, he had found the answer for his question, several times!
And the correct place for his question too.

You are getting credit but SETI has not exported stats for 4 days so it depends on where you are looking at your stats, try lookig at "your account" on this site.

If you have anymore problems it would be better if you started a new thread on the Number Crunching board.

Where's the beef, or I should say stats? It seems like a little disservice
for all that crunch for them.

Hello to All ! None of you know me, but I've been a SETI freak for many years. I quit crunching for SETI about 3 years ago, due to health problems. Nasty Stroke. I had heard that the project was down, and had no idea that it was back up and running again until I received an email, informing me that the project was up and back online ! Well, first thing I did was download the software, and start crunchin numbers again. Yes, I had problems at first, getting, "WORK", but that soon passed, and I have work all the time. While I was recovering, I did a little bit of work to my computer. Added memory, things like that. Now I'm crunching numbers like crazy !
Just want to say that I'm very glad that SETI is back, and am glad to see that there are a lot of people still working for the project.
