I assume you aren't counting trusts, territories, possessions, etc. if you aren't counting DC.

That would be correct.

And before the purists out there ask, Yes I will be counting Commanwealths.

That is the part I am confused about. Please clarify.

The US currently has 2 and has had one more in the past.

Marianas and Puerto Rico are current, and the Philippines were once a commonwealth.

The Marianas (not including Guam) are a Trust territory, not a Commonwealth.

I'll guess 34.

Massachusetts, Pennslyvania, Virginia and Kentucky go by the commonwealth Title. According to wiki it has no constitutional impact. Just means they have a government based on the common consent of the people.

OK time for the winner, But first here are the States I have been in, In no particular order. Alaska, Washington St. Texas, Missouri, Maine,New Hampshire,Massachusetts.Rhode Island,New York ( my home),Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio,Indiana,Illinois,Kentucky,West Virginia, Virgina, Delaware, Maryland,North Carolina, South Caroliona, Tennessee,Alabama,Georgia,And Florida.

By my count that makes 25 states. So the winner is Dune Finkelberry with an exact pick of 25.

As an aside I have had a mailing address in Texas,Alaska, South Carolina, Illinois,Florida and Massachusetts when I was in the Air Force.

Thank you for playing and I will PM dune now.

What's my prize? What's my prize?

Actually this hasn't come at a worse time.

    1) I don't have anything I can come up with right off the bat.
    2) My wife and I are on our way to catch a movie, dinner, then a party.

So it'll have to wait till tomorrow sometime. Sorry!

I'm going to guess that by the time Dune gets home, he will be in no condition to remember! My guess, therefore, is "unknown/unable to determine".

You're all wrong! I haven't had any! Yes. I know it's had to believe, but I haven't had a single beer.

But I don't think that'll last. I (we) just got home after watching "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows". Fell asleep half way through.

I'm going to stick with tomorrow on the question. I'm still not prepared. Plus I'm going to pop one right now!

Happy New Year!!!
