Hi, In messages on the Boinc Manager it says the project is still down, but last night the client downloaded around 21 task, took forever to download. This morning I checked Boinc Manager and only 1 task is active. It did two task at a time before the server issues. Can someone tell me what's going on? Is there a way to run more than 1 or even 2 task at a time? The computer is using the CPU and the GPU. I usually don't have problems so I don't know where to even start. Thank You for your Help! Looked at Manager and now it's running 3 task, it's never done three before. Patrick M. O'Rourke |

Work being sent from the project is still very sporadic due to the servers dying out. Most of the work sent out at this point are actually re-sends of "ghost" workunits from other machines (work that was supposed to be sent out but never actually made it to the client which is now timing out on those machines and being re-sent to users). I wouldn't expect any sort of mass loads of workunits until the new servers come online around the end of the month. |

Looked at Manager and now it's running 3 task, it's never done three before. But three is "normal" for your setup: two CPU cores and one GPU (nVidia card). There are different types of tasks for CPU and GPU. So, if one type isn't available, your machine would run less than three tasks at once. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. Ok so 3 is the norm. I did notice that the one task had cpu and gpu. I recently updated the software to 64 bit so that may explain that part. Are the task I am processing now still good task or are they junk? Patrick M. O'Rourke |

Why would the tasks be junk? |

so by that response I assume they are good and not something that came out of no where. I'm just trying to figure out why when the server is down that I am receiving them. I suppose I misunderstood the ghost thing you spoke of. Patrick M. O'Rourke |

Ok, I read that whole thing, I understand what's going on now. I have been watching the manager and it seems like it is working on the same three task over and over. My meaning is they get to 100% and then start over, is this possible? This is a lot easier when everything is working correctly. Patrick M. O'Rourke |

Well, it's difficult to check on that as we can't see what's actually happening. But I think you just run your work to 100%, after which it drops from the visual list in BOINC Manager and the next task starts from zero percent. The one completely finished will then be uploaded and eventually reported out of sight. Easily checked that, click the "Show all tasks" button in BOINC Manager->Advanced view->Tasks tab, especially around when your task reaches 100%. What happens to it? But without the option to check on people's tasks (too much database overhead), this is just a guess. 99% sure though. :) |

Ok, I checked the numbers again. It is working on different task now. I have another question. I was reading in that post about the ghost units, and I saw someone mention vlar task, what are they, I have a few of them. Patrick M. O'Rourke |
