Glad I/we made you laugh. And I think the thoughts clear. Either it's bogus, or it's business as usual like what we get from BOTH sides.

...and then Obama gets rich

Because he and Cheney are cousins, right? :)

Oh, and is this Obama shine also?

I would be glad if you could put this down to BS.

THIS SHOULD MAKE YOUR DAY.

Did you know that if you sell your house after 2012 you will pay a 3.8% sales tax on it?

That’s $3,800 on a $100,000 home etc.
When did this happen? It’s in the healthcare bill. Just thought you should know.
SALES TAX TO GO INTO EFFECT 2013 (Part of HC Bill)
REAL ESTATE SALES TAX

So, this is "change you can believe in"?
Under the new health care bill - did you know that all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% Sales Tax? The bulk of these new taxes don't kick in until 2013 (presumably after obama’s re-election). You can thank Nancy, Harry and Barack and your local Democrat Congressman for this one. If you sell your $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax. This bill is set to screw the retiring generation who often downsize their homes. Is this Hope & Change great or what? Does this stuff makes your November and 2012 votes more important?
Oh, you weren't aware this was in the obamacare bill? Guess what, you aren't alone. There are more than a few members of Congress that aren't aware of it either (result of clandestine midnight voting for huge bills

After a little searching, I found this little nugget which sheds some light on the topic. Bottom line is it's false and another ill-informed smear campaign. The author is right about one thing: this smear campaign should definitely sway your voting for November and 2012 if this is all the Repubs can come up with.

[Edit] For ease of the reader:

And just to be sure, we checked with William Ahern, director of policy and communications for the nonprofit, pro-business Tax Foundation. "Some home sales would see a tax increase under this bill," Ahern told us, "but it would have to be a second home or a principal residence generating [a gain of] more than $250,000 ($500,000 for a couple)."

So there you have it. The sort of people who would have to pay the tax might include, for example:

    * A single executive making $210,000 a year who sells his $300,000 ski condo for a $50,000 profit. His tax on the sale of that vacation home would amount to $1,900, in addition to the capital gains tax he would have paid anyway.

    * An "empty nester" couple with combined income of over $250,000 a year who sell their $1 million primary residence to move to smaller quarters. If they cleared $600,000 on the sale, they would be taxed on $100,000 of the profit (the amount over the half-million-dollar exclusion). Their health care tax on the sale would amount to $3,800 over and above the usual capital gains levy.

However, a typical home sale would not incur any tax. In March, for example, half of all existing homes sold for $170,700 or less, according to the National Association of Realtors. Obviously, none of those sales could possibly generate a $250,000 profit, and so none would be subject to the tax.

Thus, for the vast majority, the 3.8 percent tax won’t apply. The Tax Foundation, in a report released April 15, said the new tax on investment income (including real estate) "will hit approximately the top-earning two percent of families" when it takes effect in 2013.

Well, thank you.......

That's why I post these things here, so you can straighten my little republican ass out.

Now, can you tell me why my social security taxes, income taxes and every other f'n tax I pay is going up, but my income has not been increased to compensate?

Waiting.......the kitties are waiting......

OK.....I will apologize for my tone, but not my intent.

I as sick as hell of my means to make a living going nowhere but my means of being taxed goes up and up and up and up........

Every single time the dems have a vote on ANYTHING....there is a tax increase involved. Whether it's my gas, or mail, or the roof over my head, the fraakin' power I use to run the crunchers, the air I breath.....

It's time for both taxes and government to start going down...........

Most Americans are too.......and that's why the Dems are out of here in this term like sh$t through a goose.

Let me know if you have a plan for raising my income otherwise.......

Down with Dems and taxes............

Problem is I don't consider myself a Democrat either. So leveling your frustration against me is misplaced at best, and somewhat offensive. I tire of the same bullshit most everyone else does, but it only seems to me, from my perspective, that the Republicans play the most games. That isn't to say the Dems don't play games at all.

[Edit] If the Repubs want the damned office so bad, stop with the lies and the fear. Stop telling half truths. Stop preying on people's ignorance because they don't know about details like these, or posess the motivation to find the truth about them. You want your pay to raise or to lower taxes? Make that your compaign. I can at least respect that. I can't respect smear or FUD [operating off of Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt] campaigns.

For the record, I consider myself to be a civil libertarian.

ahh yes the never ending battle between borrow and spend republican and tax and spend democrats.

Um.. here is the secret. They both like to spend money. But have very different ideas "on what".

After Clinton, we actually had a budget surplus. After Bush, we have record deficits. And no economy to pay them with. So it is going to be a long hard rebuild. And I am not trusting of those that burnt the house down. That last
sentence is opinon, the rest.. well it would be pretty hard to argue those facts. Just ones perception of them.

Your taxes will be down when you file for 2010.

Do you not know that? Republicans hope it remains a secret.

Mark, to say it bluntly, you need to watch your mouth. I am sure it is posts like that that made you invisible to me the occasions I looked in on the board while "lurking" for about 1.5 years. When we disagree, I still think most want you around to talk to.
You do not know, necessarily, that the other cruncher is a Democrat.
And here would've been a better reply (one it seems it takes an independent to post):
1) Why go to factcheck.org? Why not go directly to health care bill? I am sure it is online (I seem to recall finding it once), as a pdf, and searchable. (E.g., words/phrases within the pdf document can be searched for while reading it in Acrobat or whatever.)
2) Ask a question such as: what in the world is the connection between taxes on real estate and health care?!? Even if the other cruncher quoted from factcheck, org correctly, and they have their facts right, it skirts the real question.
